Merry Christmas…. In the UK they say Happy Christmas

I prefer saying Merry Christmas. When I (or others) get grief for saying Merry Christmas, my Bah Humbug comes out!

Happy Holidays is fine if that’s what a person feels like saying. For me, saying it would feel forced and contrived, and thus would not really carry the same good will that “Merry Christmas” (or Happy Hanukkah, or Eid Mubarak, or whatever other specific holiday greeting) does.

I feel like we took: “Peace and goodwill toward men” and watered it down to “PC and tolerance toward all demographic groups.” But I don’t mean to pick on people who actually enjoy saying Happy Holidays and meaning it. I just think it ought not to be said at all if it isn’t heart-felt.

Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. I think Happy Holidays applies to the time from Thanksgiving to New Years. No ba humbug here!

By the way, the short answer is: Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas just sounds cheerful!! That’s what I say…but Happy Holiday’s is fine too I just don’t say that. Never a Bah Humbug here! Jason just said the sweetest thing…Christmas really makes you love your family. I thought he was being a smart ass but no he was being genuine!
