T.G.I.F.

What a long week. I’m sure you are just as tired of hearing about my problems as I am of having them. It’s been a very long *almost* 2 weeks. I think I’ll go one more week with this stent in, but I’m not sure I can take much more than that. I can’t leave my house to do much of anything, and can’t be gone that long. I’m definitely getting cabin fever! I have been very thankful for the weekends, as they have been my saving grace right now. It breaks up the monotony of it all, and reassures me one more week has passed.

Okay, I’m done whining.

Bailey is going on his first group gathering with friends to the movies, tonight. He’s so excited. He asked, “You’re just going to drop me off right?” He was horrified when I told him, I’d be joining him and keeping an eye on things. I was kidding, to his immediate relief! :)

How was your week? Any weekend plans? Please tell me someone is doing something fun, so I can live vicariously through you!

That’s hilarious you told him you were staying. I can just see the look on his face!! Poor kid. LOL!

LOL He told my mom he was going, and she asked, “what about grandma’s?” He gave her a look like, I want to say no, but don’t want to hurt your feelings! LOL I know, we’re so mean! ;)

Can’t leave your house?! I’ve heard of ankle monitoring but this is just TOOOO MUCH! Lol

Bummer that you’ve been feeling so bad for so long. That would really get me down!

My week has been busy in a good way. Nothing really extraordinary to report. This weekend will be more of same, most likely.

Miss E caught a flu or something. I think she caught it from her teacher. She was just sleepy yesterday, but today they sent her home from school. Technically I am not supposed to send her back until she’s fever-free for 24 hours, but I’m going to anyway if she feels better tomorrow (Friday). After all, her teacher kept coming despite being sick, and that’s probably what got us to this point in the first place. There isn’t anyone at school who hasn’t already been exposed. Besides, this is KG, not playschool. If you aren’t sick any more, you go to school. They have a bunch of stuff they don’t want to miss tomorrow.

Well, this morning it was snowing and now it’s raining. The other day it rained and then snowed. Whatever!

Well, I am tired and really don’t have much to report, so I’m outta here. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

The school bosslady did NOT like me bringing my kid to school today! I was hoping to slip her in but no dice. I pointed out that the teacher had been sick for days (still working) and there was no child in that class who had not been exposed many times over. The bosslady asked the teacher about it and she said OK, as long as she can call me to pick my kid up from their field trip if she gets sick.

I hope she doesn’t get sick! She was fine this morning (so far).

Thing is, today is a day Miss E would not want to miss, especially if she isn’t actually sick. Besides the morning field trip, they have a weekly test, and today she is supposed to receive a prize for filling a card with 25 good behavior stickers. She’s been looking forward to that for a long time, so it would suck if she had to wait until Monday to get it. I know, not good enough if she’s really still sick, but just because she had a fever yesterday doesn’t mean she’s dying (or more contagious) today.

In other news, I’m taking a break from my rule against eating chocolate. I normally don’t touch it, but my kids have built up a ridiculous stash, so I decided to break the rules for maybe a week. Yes, it is making me fat, but I can work that off. It’s been fun tasting stuff I haven’t had in years. Like the mini 3 Musketeers bar. Mmm!

It’s our last week of basketball!!! Saturday are our last 2 games and then Saturday afternoon is 4-H skit dress rehearsal from 2-3pm, I told Trin she could have a friend spend the night and then Sunday is religion and 4-H Share the Fun/Performing Arts day! All of our hard work will pay off and I just know the kids will win a trip to the state fair! Trinity is going to play a 3 song medley on her trumpet for performing arts and I hope she does well b/c she is now old enough to go on a state fair trip.

Oh, tomorrow (Friday, so today depending on when you’re reading this!) I get to go back to Hutch General for the day and I’m excited :) Can’t wait to hear all that I’ve been missing ;) Monday I have the day off and I’m glad b/c it sounds like we could get a real live snowstorm! Christopher said tonight at supper that this winter has been totally boring without the snow. Couldn’t agree more!

  5. Joy says:

I was just thinking what Nikki was. Yes Nikki. This is his first year. How old was Trin that year when I planted those flowers with her and helped her take care of them? Could I do that with him this year? I have some flowers sitting here that we could start inside and plant them outside in the spring. I have 3 varieties of sunflowers.

    • Sue says:

Yes, Chris is in 4-H now, but he didn’t want any part of the skit! LOL! I did try to get him to tell jokes for performing arts, but that was also a no go. Now you can join in KG and are a ‘cloverbud’ until 3rd grade. Then you become a regular member that gets a red, white or blue ribbon at the fair along with the chance to get a Grand Champion. I don’t know what Chris’s project will be this year, but he might like doing the flowers if you get to start them from seeds. I’ve been thinking about it though.

    • Joy says:

I was also thinking he might not think flowers are cool but you know he could always germinate a couple watermelon seeds or something he really likes. We could start them inside and he could take a photo a week to document. He loves taking pictures and it’s easy and short and sweet but it would be cool for him to see it grow and by the fair, it would be big. I have scrapbooks he could use too but I didn’t know if he was supposed to do anything in particular. We could start it his next time here if you think it would be good.

      • Sue says:

For cloverbuds, it’s all about the exposure to the judging process and they all get participation ribbons so you can do whatever you want. I don’t think he’d like a scrapbook, but a poster showing his pictures he might do. He’d get a kick out of taking the picture too. He could even build something out of Lego’s and enter it!

  6. Joy says:

We don’t have any plans for the weekend other than trying to get to the pool at least once. We didn’t make it there this week. I’m not sure why. Laziness won over I guess.

I’m so jealous of Laura’s snow. This is her picture on the header today. Should I go lighter with the sides or does this look okay. I’m not wild about the dark but it fits so well with the wood.

I”ll be back later. I have NOTHING new going on to report.

  7. Laura says:

    Hey!! That’s my deck!!

I am loving this snow. It’s 25 out right now, and we’ve got a pretty crisp wind blowing. This morning, I went out to clear the driveway, and came in just drenched in sweat! It was about 35 when I was working, and probably about 95% humidity. And with a little sheen of ice under the snow, it was an adventure to clear my driveway. Have I told you about the driveway? It’s got almost a right-angle turn, on a pretty steep slant (maybe 30 degree?). Josh sleds down it. I do, too, when it’s really slick and the truck tires can’t grab. I went “over the edge” twice last week. Not enough to roll the truck, but let me tell you, it’s a bit white-knuckle when it’s happening.

This weekend is pretty dead. Nothing planned. I’ll be finishing up a project that I started last weekend, so hopefully, I’ll have a post to show you during the week. And Josh will probably have friends over at least one of the days. Otherwise, I got a whole lotta nuthin’ goin’ on.

Today, though, the ceiling guys are here. The company *finally* ok’d the rental of a scaffold, so they could get up there and do the work properly. Oh, the headache I went through to get that done!!! The company kept wanting to just give the subcontractor a ladder. My ceiling is 20 FEET HIGH!! And they though that he could sit (SIT!!) on the top of a 14′ ladder and reach the ceiling. The company balked for three weeks about getting a scaffold up there. I finally called and found out that the entire scaffold to get them all the way up, was going to cost in the neighborhood of $25.00. FOR THE WHOLE DAY. And they were griping that it would “cost too much”. Well, then it was “it’ll take too long to set up/tear down”. I finally left a terse voicemail (because the ja… nice man… would never answer his bloody phone) saying that it was going to cost him a whole lot more in time and money (and cleaning bills) if the painter fell off that stupid ladder they wanted him to stand on. Two days later (today), the guys are here with the scaffolding, and getting the work done. And it looks really good. All of that fussing and arguing, and it’s done. Took 4 hours, from the minute they walked in until now, and they’re tearing down. And that’s with an hour break in there to let the stain set, before putting the poly on.

  8. SKL says:

After a couple of good productive weeks, I’ve been having a not-so-good day. I keep getting these little messages with requests for this and that. Would everyone please just leave me alone!? Ha! I guess I’d better get some of these things done so I don’t have as much hanging over my head for the weekend. Blah.

  9. mssc54 says:

Not much planned for this weekend.

Our three oldest dauhters never got to single date until they were seventeen years old. One of us (usually the Mrs. always went along with the group until the girls were about fifteen. Groups of six or more was okay after that.
