A & E: Last Thursday, we walked to the park which is close to a mile from our house – and back. The main thing we did there was use the bathroom, because it was near our bedtime by then. (A: that’s because E walks so slow. E: no, it’s because A dawdles so much.) We did play on the slide and see lots of people at a softball game.
I remember one day we were bored at our cabin so we all took off for a walk at a state park type place. It was Paul and I, both kids and sister and brother in law. They had a walking trail there that we’d never walked before. I swear, we walked for hours. I started getting nervous because I never thought it was going to end. We never did walk it again but we did go and cross country ski it.
Bailey- I don’t walk far distances, I always ride my bike. My mom walks b/c she usually has to push the stroller. We have a park about a mile away we go to.
The longest distance I have walked is 7 miles. Me & a friend of mine went to Lake Rebecca to walk the path and when we started we both thought it was 3 1/2 miles. So about 4 miles later we came across a marker that said 3 miles to go!!! We were so tired and so sore by the time we were done! We haven’t done it again!!
When I was 18, I walked 12 miles to work one morning because my mom thought I should quit the job and wouldn’t let me borrow her car any more. (She was right, by the way.)
When I was 16, I took a backpacking class and walked 15 miles (10 at night, 5 next morning) with a 40-lb backpack on my back. It wouldn’t have weighed so much if my mom didn’t force me to bring my winter coat . . . .
Isn’t it funny how mom’s end up being right more often than not?
Well, my mom was wrong about the winter coat – just for the record.
But yeah, as a mom, I will support your general statement. That’s what I tell my girls, anyway.
We were walking to one of the gravel pits but it got to far and mommy had to carry me. We take the four wheeler now.
