Our Day at Valley Fair

On Saturday we went to Valley Fair. For those who don’t know what that is it’s a really big amusement park with a lot of rides. Scary, insane, what was I thinking rides!!! My first time there was last summer, just Jason and I went. This year we took Bailey and 2 of our best friends. It makes it so much more fun when you go with people that LOVE roller coasters. And they do!! I too love rides but will be the first to admit they scare me to death slightly. My hands get sweaty EVERY time!! So sweaty that I can’t hold on to anything. I’m not one to throw my arms in the air when I’m completely upside down 80 feet in the air!! My friend Brea however is crazy like that. She brought a little of the crazy out in me.

On one ride I put my arms up in the air as we are free falling…I’ve never felt so free in my life. I went on this one ride called the Looping Starship, you end up stuck upside down!!!!! I had an 8 year old next to me!! I’m sure the whole park heard the screaming coming from that ride…and it WAS NOT coming from that 8 year old!! I’ll never go on that ride again. I like scary-fun rides but that was NOT fun for me at all! It didn’t help that I had a teenager across from me laughing and pointing at me. HAHA very funny I said, be quiet or I’ll throw up all over you!! Not the ride for me.

Then we all went on a water ride…fun, got soaking wet. I fell down the stairs getting off and messed up my ankle and knee:( The worse part is I did it in front of like 100 people.  EMBARRASSING!! Bailey went on some rides I didn’t think he would so that says a lot!! He’s growing up! He went on one ride that really surprised me because it goes up pretty far but the deal with this ride is you have to go on the ride to be able to stand on the bridge and as you get off of it, you get soaked!! And he wanted to be able to stand on that bridge so bad. So he finally got the guts to do it. When he got off that bridge soaking wet he couldn’t stop smiling.  He had the time of his life just being there, seeing everything. Half the fun was watching his face and hearing him laugh. We had a great time and are already looking forward to the next time we go…next summer.

I’m glad we went and with the people we went with. You know those people who bring out the crazy side in you, the good crazy side? Do you have that person who you let all inhibitions go and just be free to feel like a kid again?

So by the end of the day I was bruised, scraped, sore, tired, and had no voice. All signs of an accomplished day at the fair!!!

Wow, with Bailey’s hair wet like that, he really, REALLY looks like Jason. It’s chilling. So glad you had fun.

Left to myself, I really don’t have those kinds of inhibitions. I’m the one people have to beg to come down from a rock face or stop balancing on the edge of a precipice. I love heights. I have always loved roller-coasters, but it has been a while since I have been on one, so I am not sure if I would still like it. Age does change people. It’s not that I’d be scared, but I might have forgotten how to keep my brain from wonking around too much.

Maybe I’m “that crazy person” to some folks. But most of the people I hang out with are hopeless fuddy-duddies. Heck, most people over age 12 are, for that matter. Bah.

Tell Bailey he needs to come to Cedar Point over in my neck of the woods if he likes roller-coasters.

OMG, roller coasters scare me to death! I do NOT do rides. At all. I get motion sick just watching the kids on the carosel even. HA! My husband loves roller coasters though. The faster the better. Not me!
Glad you had a good time! : )

I’m so glad you guys had a good time. I used to go to Valleyfair as a room-parent so I got to go for free. I did most things like that. But as an adult, I hate rides so for me, it’s a waste of money. I wish they would have two sets of bracelets or something so you could go people watch, eat food and do the gift shops because neither my husband or I like rides but I’d still like to go again but I won’t spend that kind of money for what we’d do there. Instead of the “base” fee, I feel and wish there were a “no ride” fee as well.

That would be nice huh? They really should offer something like that.

We have a very cute, historical amusement park where you can go in for free, and you only have to pay if you ride. It’s so nice for the older people. They have restaurants, a beach, music, etc., so you actually can have a good time even if you can’t abide rides. I think they make more money than they would if they forced everyone to pay. Older parents and grandparents wouldn’t be as interested in taking kids there otherwise. Oh, and they may be small, but they have the best old antique roller-coaster. Every time I ride it, I’m certain the cars are going to fly off the track. Awesome!

We just love going to Valleyfair. It’s a day’s drive for us so we’ve always made it a weekend event. It’s so fun. I love those rides. Both of us do. We always go with a group of friends and try to get there once a summer but being pregnant this summer, not so much fun!!! We haven’t taken Dylan yet and probably won’t for many years. It’s a nice weekend for us and we don’t get that many away.

I do agree with you Joy though, if you don’t like rides, it’s not worth the admission fee. They really should have two. The people watching is out of this world. Almost as fun as the rides!!

    That pic is priceless 🙂

I’m glad you all had fun. I haven’t been to VF in a long time b/c Toby complains that it’s too far to drive. We’re and hour and half away! Same reason he won’t go to the zoo! Men. Anyway, Bailey sounds like he had a good time. You always did like the scary rides. Remember when we went to the State Fair and you and Jason did the spinning ride where the floor drops out? I love ya, but you’re nuts:)

I do remember that, we were just talking about it!! I do love the rush, the feeling in your stomach. There’s nothing like it!! I just wish I could have my arms in the air all the time. I still can’t go that far!! Maybe next time. Like me hanging on is really going to save me!!!

Oh yea and bye the way, have you seen the Steel Venom?? I think I’m nuts too!!!!
