A foot race??? What on earth is that? Honestly am fascinated! Erm art contest though I hate all competitions like this. How bout a swimming tournament?
I hate contests too, because although I tend to be “pretty good” at many things, there is always someone better, and I hate the idea of putting myself out there and losing. I hate putting myself out there at all, for that matter, but at least it would be worth it if I could win for sure.
I dropped out of chess because my older brother was so darn good at it, and even my younger sister beat me once or twice. So I figured I must be terrible at it. But actually, it’s just that my sibs were really good.
Spelling bee – I am a very good speller, but there’s no way I’m studying my butt off to spell words I will never use in conversation. When I was in upper elementary, we had this kid in our school who won the bee 3 years in a row, after I’d gotten eliminated on a word that the whole school missed. (The last three to spell such a word wrong get to go back up!) So, would I go to the national bee? Probably not.
Art: love it, good at it, but it’s too subjective. Science: interesting, but fairs aren’t really my thing. Running race: I’m fast, but I don’t train, so I am sure I’d lose in a national competition.
So why did I come up with that question? I don’t know. What I’d really like to know is, what vitamin can I take to be as confident as those kids who compete in all that stuff?
We both said foot race. I love art but not good at it so I wouldn’t want to be in a competition.
I have to say spelling. The only weird thing about me is I need to write the words down. I can usually spell right that way every time but if I have to spell in thin air, I can’t. Why is that?
