** Joy we are going to be hit by hurricane Ike.. It took a big change in direction last night and is now coming towards us.. They are evacuating the area and telling us to get out. Its supposed to hit tomorrow night or saturday morning. I’ll keep you udpated as much as I can but I dont know when or if I’ll be back on in the next few days. It depends on how badly we are hit and how strong the storm is.

Well honestly I liked clowning around the most. So pretty much any subject was best for that…. I mean academically speaking.

But since you said “favorite subject in school”, I really enjoyed Physical Ed.

Gosh Joy, now you’ve taken me on a trip back in time that I really have enjoyed. In my mind’s eye right now I am back in that huge, non air conditioned gym with the big wire around the lights and windows running around and just having a good ole time.

    Thanks! 🙂

Tosha I hope no damage is done to your home. Good luck!

I loved Creative Writing. I also loved one History class because of the way the teacher ran it. Instead of focusing on fact memorization, he presented points of history to us and then asked a leading “What if such-and-such happened instead?” question.

Our grades were based not just on knowledge of the actual events, but on our thought process on the “What if ” questions. We had to show a logical conclusion of what could have happened, as well as the repercussions that would have followed and how it might have changed our lives today.

It was a really interesting class. I’ve never had another like it. 🙂

I loved math especially algebra. I used to do algebra problems on my porch at night for fun when I was in high school. I always thought of them as puzzles. People did crossword puzzles for fun. I never understood why my siblings thought it was odd and funny that I liked to do algebra problems. Now I couldn’t do an algebra problem if I tried. I’ve forgotten most of it. Oh well, at least I can make change.

My favorite classes were my Drama and foreign language classes. My favorite subject was history, but not in school. I read so much outside of class I learned quickly that what we were taught in school was sanitized and altered (at least in my district). But with Drama, it was active, it was fun, and we were allowed to speak our mind – it really helped me with my socialization issues. With languages – well, I love them. I took Latin my senior year of high school as an easy, last-period of the day, slacker class – best decision ever! The root grammatical structures of Russian descend from Latin and Greek roots – so my easiest class made my future career much easier to grasp!

Tosha – I hope everything turns out okay! We were lucky here with Hanna – looks like the Gulf is more unlucky than the Atlantic this year! I’ll be thinking about you.

  7. SKL says:

I liked a lot of subjects. I guess English must have been my favorite, but I also enjoyed math, art, science (once I got past the world’s worst science teacher), biology, Spanish, and music. I hated gym.

  8. Just a Mom says:

I always liked basic math. To me geometry is not math. Algebra yes, geometry no!
I also loved my choir class, we had the best choir director!

  9. Sue says:

Hmmm, I don’t think I had one favorite. I liked science and algebra and band. Maybe band b/c when I brought my trumpet home I actually practiced and I liked it! My mom liked to hear me play too so that helped! Band taught you math, vocabulary/language, history, multi-tasking, and good listening skills. Hmmm, maybe I should have been a band teacher…..ok, I’m totally kidding!

  10. Sue says:

Tosha, take care and be safe. We’re all thinking of you!

  11. Eric says:

My favorite subject was science and history but I was the best at math. Take care Tosha Hope every thing goes well.

  12. SKL says:

Interesting thing about Algebra and Geometry. I’ve observed that most people are great at one and struggle with the other. For me, Geometry was way easier. It just seemed totally obvious. I had to put thought into Algebra.

  13. Tessa says:

My favorites were Art, English, Spanish…I was best at them too. I still love them all!
I am glad Eric is great at all my bad subjects! Our kids can have help with all subjects lol

  14. Tessa says:

Eric’s always watching the history or discovery channel, and I am like “I cannot believe you find this interesting!! What is wrong with you!?” But it’s a very good thing he likes them!

  15. Joy says:

I loved reading, spelling and English. I also loved band and playing my flute.

  16. English and Choir; choir being my absolute favorite, had it five days a week!!!!

  17. kweenmama says:

I loved English and my German class. Though now it is a struggle for me to remember what I learned in the German class.

  18. nikki says:

English was my favorite in elementary, but once I got into high school, horticulture was my favorite.

  19. Jane says:

    I loved science.
