Question of the day

When making an entrance into a social gathering, do you make your presence know so everyone notices you, slip in and look for someone you know or sneak in as quietly as possible and find a safe spot to hide?

Im unfortunately not the kind of person who “blends in”. Sometimes I would just love to. But I just walk in and it seems like the attention is on me somehow.

  2. SKL says:

My first choice is not to go at all! If I must go, I will look for a trusted person or an inconspicuous spot and get a coffee or something to make myself look busy rather than insecure.

I try to blend in – I’m not very comfortable in social gatherings. Like on Saturday, at the ball, I ran across only two people that I actually knew (people I had worked with when I was stationed there 3 years ago), and my husband only knew a handful more. After I had a few drinks, though, I was more open to conversation with our tablemates, none of whom we had met before.

  4. SanityFound says:

For some reason people notice me and generally I always attract people that I have never met before… I’ve asked people why before and they say that they don’t know, there is something about me, my laugh, my smile and my eyes… Dunno I am just me and they confuse me lol

Right back to offline mode Mwah!

  5. Just a Mom says:

I slip in and look for someone I know. I will say as I get older I am not quite as shy as I used to be.

  6. Joy says:

I’m not a very social person either. If I was to go somewhere and not know anyone, I wouldn’t go. People who know me don’t think I’m shy but I’m painfully so with strangers.

  7. kwoneshe2 says:

When I absolutely must attend something like this, I hide in the corner.

  8. Sue says:

Ahhh, I’m 6 feet tall; I don’t blend in!!!! I do try and find someone I know and sit with them. I have a hard time thinking of conversations to have with people I don’t know.

  9. nikki says:

If I have to go then I slip in quietly and find someone. If I have to go alone, good chance I just won’t go. It also depends on who’s going to be there. If I know most of everyone it doesn’t really bother me.

  10. Jane says:

My “social” gatherings aren’t like most of yours I’m sure. I usually just walk right in, sit right down. I’m just that way.
