Yes I have dated someone at my work, he was my very SEXY boss, man did I get alot of raises, if ya know what I mean. lol. It went well, we kept our work at work and our love for each other was at home, I mean we did flirt a little bit, he would grab my booty, while he was running down the hall, but nothing major, our relatinship didnt last only but 8 months… SO but he was/is a HOTTY. mmmmmmm

  2. SKL says:

I did. It was a mistake, more because of his personality than the situation. We were at the same level in different departments, so there wasn’t anything wrong with us dating, but there were times when he didn’t observe boundaries I wanted to observe. Nothing totally outrageous, but people figured out that we were dating, which was kinda weird, especially since most people saw him as obnoxious and unattractive. A couple times I stuck my neck out for him at work, e.g., he wanted me to ask a partner in another city whether there was an opportunity for him there and to talk him up, and I gave him some make-work to help him stay “chargeable.” Nothing scandalous. But I was glad that most of the people I worked closely with were based in other cities.

Well, the relationship lasted 8 months. It started shortly after he got hired, and ended a couple months after he quit and moved for a new job. At first I was really just trying to help him get acclimated to the area. He was from out of town and was originally from another country, the same country where many of my good friends were born. I helped him find the good restaurants and such, and he invited me to accompany him to an ethnic festival, and it went pretty fast from there. We had a lot of chemistry. But he was way too conservative for me, and I don’t mean politically. His idea of a happy home was one where the MAN’s mother lives in, the wife’s family stays far away, the husband never enters the kitchen (that would upset his mother, you know), the wife asks permission to spend a dime of her own money, the husband is allowed to hit the wife, the daughters wear calf-length skirts, etc. Oh, and I was supposed to convert to his religion too. Funny thing is, despite all that, I made a lot of effort to adjust, up to a point. The foul comment about my mom and the physical abuse were just over the line.

He still tries to keep up the friendship, apparently so he can use me (the professional connection). He’ll call me and say he still cares and don’t be a stranger, and by the way, will you be a reference for a job I’m applying for? Or, will you review this legal document for my brother? He used to use me to try to keep open his options for returning to the company we both worked at, until I quit too.

No, but it reminds me of this guy that was really nice and funny and we hung out a lot at work (I was a teenager.) We both were already in a relationship so there was an unspoken understanding that all our interaction wasn’t going anywhere. One night I had a dream about him and I made the mistake of saying that the next day. He gave me a horrified look and we never really spoke again, which I guess shows how loyal we were to our partners but I regret ruining a fun work friendship.

  4. Jennifer says:

    I married him….

    Hee-Hee….

  5. Joy says:

So did I Jen!! LOL!!! I always like to say I married my boss so I could become boss!!!

  6. thegoddessanna says:

I married him too! He wasn’t my boss, though, but he was one rank higher.
Actually, almost everyone I’ve ever dated was someone I worked with – save for one. He worked at the coffee shop where I studied. Looked just like Shaggy from Scooby Doo, I kid you not.

  7. Joy says:

I always thought Shaggy was kinda cute.

  8. thegoddessanna says:

Me too! Man, it’s been years since I’ve thought about him…

  9. Just a Mom says:

I married a guy I worked with, quit my job due to company policy and then divorced him. This was all in an 8 month time frame! These are the stupid things you do when you are young!

  10. nikki says:

Just a mom??? All that in 8 months!!?? Chalk it all up to life experiences!!!! I have never dated anyone I worked with, but I have been with my husband since I was 17 so I never really dated at all!!!

  11. SKL says:

Shaggy was never my type. Maybe because one of my brothers looked just like him during his teens. And I’m pretty sure no girls thought my brother looked hot during that stage. Though I could be wrong, I suppose.

  12. SanityFound says:

Almost many times but I was the boss and I kinda am innocent that way didn’t quite feel right… well that’s all I am saying and leaving at that right

  13. Tessa says:

I was 16-my first boyfriend I worked with, ended badly with lots of teenage drama, and then not so fun at work because it was a whole bunch of friends working at Target, lots of gossip, lots of drama, cliques get so mean!!

Eric (my husband) worked there once when I did at Target for a VERY short while, but we didn’t know each other! It’s funny. That was the first time we meet each other actually, just a “hello, what’s your name?” He got fired right away-like that day I met him!! and didn’t see each other for another year…when he had a crush on my friend Michelle, who we are both still close with today! Funny thing is Eric and I didn’t have one class together until the end of senior year, and that’s when we started dating. We joke about it now. Man, it is crazy how fast time goes-feels like forever ago already!! Graduated in 2002!

  14. Tessa says:

That is crazy Just A Mom! Wild woman! Nikki, how did you and Jason meet?! He was an older man, huh…illegal!! lol Eric was 17 and I was 18 when we started dating, and everyone use to joke that I took advantage of a minor.

  15. Sue says:

Hmmm, Toby jokes about the same thing with me, Tessa! I never dated anyone I worked with-Thank God! It was always cute though when Toby would come into the grocery store to “buy ice for my mom” when he really just wanted to see me!

  16. nikki says:

Tessa, I worked at TJ Maxx with a friend I still have. Her boyfriend whom were still friends with was friends/roommates with Jason. They always like to take the credit for us being together now for almost 11 years!! In joking I blame them!!! LOL

  17. Tessa says:

That’s neat! Cool that you’re all still friends. Same with all our old friends from high school. Sue, were you 18 and Toby 17 also then!? Funny.

  18. thegoddessanna says:

LoL, SKL! In the end, Shaggy ended up not being my type either… which is why I ended up with my clean-cut military man!

  19. nikki says:

I believe they were together a year or so before us Tessa.

  20. Gma says:

Back in 1984, I was an asst. manager at our local Whataburger restaurant. When I started my shift, I noticed that a new employee named “Tom” was scheduled to come in at 7pm that night. At 7–two men named “Tom” showed up to work. My boss had neglected to mention a couple of new hires to me. What to do? I called my boss and told her what was going on and asked which one do I keep? After she told me, I sent the other guy home–who I never saw again. Well, I married the Tom that stayed to work that night, and we’ve been together ever since–24 years.

  21. nikki says:

What a great story that is Gma!!!!
