Christmas at our house

I thought I’d share a few photo’s of Christmas at our home.  This first one is of Paul and I.  I sent it out as our cards last year.  Notice anything weird??  I’m the man and he’s the woman!! Eric is the first one who noticed!!  LOL!!  We just stood behind them and didn’t pay attention to what the front of them looked like. Oh well, I gave everyone a good laugh.

img_0008Here are my three favorite Christmas ornaments.  Both Jason and Toby made me these when they were 4 years old in Sunday school. They both mean the world to me.  This one is Jason’s.

img_0207This one reminds me of my mother in law.  She died the Monday after Thanksgiving and I bought this in the hospital gift shop.  I showed it to her and she held it in her hand and laughed and said “you’ll buy anything.”  It’s a snow globe if you shake it.  I just love it.  It’s like I have something just between her and I.  She was so wonderful and I still feel her loss after all these years.

img_0020That’s it for now.  I just felt like sharing.  I wish we’d get more snow.

Want to share any of your holiday pictures?  Send em in and I’ll put them up.

Very nice! I’m excited to have my daughters start making ornaments for our tree! I am not very energetic about decorating, but as the kids slowly become cognizant of the holidays, it gets me more into the spirit.

    Oh, and don’t worry, you’ll get more snow . . . and more, and more . . . .

I keep my dads memory alive and try my best to honor his wishes for me to have a great life! We should all try to do the same! Keep smiling! Fantastic photos! If you have time in life, laugh, laugh, and laugh!

I love the Mr & Mrs Snowman picture! Too funny!
Every year I think about making our tree a Theme like all gold or something like that but then I wouldn’t be able to put up all the homemade ornanments from my grandmother and my kids. I even have a few that I made when I was a kid that we still put up.

  5. Joy says:

Thanks everyone. You know Just A Mom, I’ve often thought of all those people who do the “theme” tree’s too but I’ve never thought of doing it. Like you said, you wouldn’t be able to put up all your favorite ones.

I love decorating our tree with Bailey. I used to do the theme trees but would also incorporate the ornaments from Bailey and my childhood ones. I have a Rainbow Brite one from the early 80’s..my favorite!! Now I don’t have any theme, just odds and ins’ and all the ones Baileys made through out the years.
We were sitting at the dinner table the other night and I noticed I had like 3 candy canes on my tree that were half gone!!! BAILEY DONALD!!! We had a good laugh!
Joy, I love all you decorations!!!

  7. I absolutely love how festive your house is……… looks terrific, girl!!!

  8. DM says:

I spotted the switch-er-ru (you and paul changing places) and did a double take. Don’t have any snow today but have 3 to 6 coming tomorrow…w/ temps below 0.

A few years ago, just to add a little fun to things I suggested we write one of those Christmas letters and make up a bunch of stuff to see who in fact read it and comment..one of the made up details was we were expecting (wife was 45 or 46 @ the time)..got several congratulatory phone calls, a gift in the mail from wife’s aunt from Georgia.. boy did I catch it 🙂 oh well

  9. Joy says:

    DM, that’s hilarious!!!

  10. Tosha says:

Your tree is beautiful! Thank u for sharing. The kids r really upset that we didn’t get to put one up this year. We’ll just have to do it really big next year!

  11. kweenmama says:

Your tree is gorgeous! We have two trees. (It comes from blending families and you end up with two of everything!) The tree in the living room is more formal. The tree in the family room holds all the ornaments the kids have made or been given over the years. It is my favorite.

  12. Elena says:

That’s what makes Christmas so special, all the memories and the connections between people. I’m glad you have so many good ones!

  13. Sue says:

That snow couple is darling. I just love it. I also love your boys ornaments. I can’t wait to get those. I can’t stand “themed” tree’s. They just don’t look real to me.
