I need to ask some more questions. Since we were able to help each other with the commenting thing, I need help with my browser. In the past few weeks, I’ve gone back and forth between Safari and Mozilla Firefox.
I haven’t used the Internet Explorer once since I started to use Safari. It is slower than slow. They had problems the other day with someone highjacking passwords so I was glad I hadn’t done my shopping using that. To be honest, since Audrey introduced me to the variety of others, I didn’t know there were any choices. I have so much to learn!!!
I really have to say I like this one. Safari. It’s from Apple and I’ve been using it for a few weeks now but the only thing I have problems with is I can’t see any video’s on blogs using this. I can’t see mine nor yours. I can see them on You Tube though so I don’t know what’s the deal here. The only other thing about this that I don’t like is it doesn’t let you keep your settings from visit to visit. I need the bigger fonts and I can make them bigger for the time I’m on but once I sign out and re-sign in, I have to do it every time. I’ve gotten used to that, it’s not a big deal but the video’s are. What am I doing wrong?? Is it me??
This one, Firefox is pretty good too. These are both much faster than the Internet Explorer but with this one, what I don’t like is the spell check doesn’t work when I’m in my WordPress posting box. It will only underline one work in red and if you don’t fix it right away, it disappears and then none of them show if they’re spelled wrong. Not that big of a deal either since I can hit the WordPress spell check at the end but then, it doesn’t show if I misspell something in the tagging and categorizing boxes either.
So all you dear people, what am I doing wrong? Does it hurt to have all these browsers on my computer? I usually have Firefox and Safari open. If I need to see a video I use firefox and when I’m writing and commenting I use Safari but does this take up memory or hurt anything? Do I have to set something that I’m not or do you think something else is wrong? I also tried the Google Chrome but that has no spell check at all so I deleted it right away.
What browser do you use and why do you like it? And HELP me if you can.
Had same problems with my new puter but downloaded the Flash plugin off Safari’s site and youtubes worked, don’t know if you’ve tried it yet or if it will work on your system. Firefox I have running at all times while Safari is open and my memory is happy with me, I don’t think this is an issue with any internal workings on a system, it is much like having a word and excel document open at the same time. Firefox plugins I love and use quite a few for my webdesign work believe it or not; they have some really nice ones on their site but my all time fav is their dictionaries because I’m always told to add “z” in to words which drives me nuts! You can download the American English dictionary and it will solve your spelling 🙂
Don’t know if any of this helps with your problems, let me know either way k, cause we hate problems yurgh!
I have no idea. I use whatever is installed on my computer. That doesn’t stop it from morphing into a different computer every few days anyway.
Firefox is definitely my browser of choice. I agree there are some odd problems with the spellcheck in Firefox, but I find it so intuitive and easy to use for everything else that I just prefer it.
I’ve started using Google Chrome, and I know I’m going to become a devotee of it once they release some sort of newer version that isn’t still in Beta mode. It’s really really really fast, so I like it, but it’s just still a tiny bit too basic for me.
It shouldn’t hurt your computer though – having all three browsers I mean.
I use Firefox.
I think it’s smart to have more than browser installed on a computer. Not every website is designed to work with all browsers, so it’s always good to have another one on your computer to use, or to ‘test’ how your blog looks etc.
I think Safari and Firefox are both excellent choices… IE stinks and I use it only when I’m forced to.
Honestly I’ve gotten so used to using an alternate browser that blocks so much of junk that when I use IE I find it painful to do so…I always end up with an abundance of error messages and popups that drive me nuts.
I use IE and I agree with Jennifer about having a few different choices. Although I have never had problems with IE. Can you alter using the different browsers as it suits your needs? I don’t think it can hurt your system any. Good luck!
I’m still an IE user. I used to have firefox and really didnt’ find it worked really any better. Just different. I’m afraid to download too many browsers cuz then seems to be more virus action 😦
Firefox. IE always locks up on me. I know some who use Opera, but I’m not comfortable with it.
I’m so computer illiterate! I use Safari because that’s what’s on my Mac. I haven’t had too many issues, knock wood, although once in a while I run across something online that says, “Oh bummer for you, we don’t work with Safari!” But then I just decide I hate whatever it is and then I feel better! 😉 (I’m such a goofball.)
I use safari.. but be careful of the recent updates.. cause they will throw your system into a tizzy and you wont be able to open anything.
Wait for the next release before updating Safari… maybe they get the bugs out.
I use Firefox but only because my son-in-law told me it was the best. I just do what he tells me and hope he is right.
I use Firefox and Safari just like you do Joy. Some things work and some things don’t. I too need to switch to Firefox to watch videos. I wonder why that is? What else is funny is on our “big” computer, meaning not the laptop, the video’s work using Safari. They work on one but not the other. I just keep switching back and forth. I do prefer Safari though.
I haven’t used IE for almost a year. I can’t stand the waiting.
Joy, I couldn’t help noticing that book My Best Friends Girl. Wasn’t that a great book? It blew me away.
