I am cheap, but I am wary of advertised bargains. Usually they are ploys to get you to spend more money than you otherwise would.

Sometimes I’m a sucker, I admit it. I get a coupon for 25% off a book of my choice and I have a $25 gift card, so I figure I’ll go to the bookstore and use both and maybe spend a couple bucks and get some good stuff. Well, it never works that way. I end up spending way more money than I should almost every time. So you would think I would be smart enough to throw those coupons away whenever I get them. But I don’t.

The other thing is that my opportunities for browsing are a lot less than they used to be. When you don’t have time to browse, you miss the really, really good stuff. And then if you’re like me, you feel reluctant to leave empty-handed, so you make a dumb purchase. I’m better off just staying home!

PS didn’t know Andrews was still writing, I read her as a kid, used to love her style

It depends on how I feel! I really like a deal and buy almost everything on sale. I do not like digging through the clearance racks though to find that $1.99 shirt that I must have. Forget that! It’s easier to shop clearance on-line and not deal with the people or cashiers or sales people!

Hi Joy, Cathy gave me your blog address…I don’t know the first thing about “blogging” HELP~~~~It would be great to hear from you. I have turned into a Mn. snow dweller again and am kind of liking it, strange but true. I guess the cold and snow are a pretty equal trade off for the 120 degree Az. temps. Mike and I are still “close” He is up here in Mn. until Sun. and we have made our peace~~~we can’t live together, but we can sure be friends and spend time together. I will probably go down there next winter for a little rest and warmth. Take care and teach me about this blogging stuff!! GO VIKINGS!!! Judy

Hi Judy, I’m going to send you an email. I’m really glad your here on the blog.

Hey San, I still read VC Andrews. She’s actually dead but someone has been writing under her name as she’d left a bunch of manuscripts after her death. Last summer I re-read a bunch of her series. I’ve had this book a while and it’s my last *gasp* book I have on hand that I haven’t read. Not to worry, I have a bunch on order and they should come tomorrow.

That crazy person Sue’s talking about digging through the racks to find that perfect shirt for $1.99….that’s me! I do not buy any piece of clothing (other than socks maybe) for even close to the original price. 90% of my clothes come from Tommy Hilfiger, Aeropostle, or Maurices. I don’t pay more than $10 for a pair of jeans and very rarely more than $5 for a shirt. Granted I get 50% off at Tommy which helps, but I wouldn’t shop there if I didn’t. I bought an adorable vest I’ve been wanting, original almost $60, they went down to clearance for $20 so I got it for 10! I figure it this way…I’m not buying “cheap” clothes, I’m buying fairly expensive clothes for sometimes 10% of the price. It just allows me to buy more. My Mom works for Tommy so anytime a new sale goes on or certain things she knows I want go clearance she lets me know!!

I like a bargain just as much as the next guy but I have to be honest and say that if I want something, whether it’s on sale or not, I’ll buy it. There are some things I won’t buy unless on sale (my sheets for one. I’m to spoiled) but IF I need something I’ll get it.

I do almost all my shopping online and I do browse a lot and always go to “clearance” first. I buy things as I see them and save them for people.

Nikki & Sue, that crazy person lookin’ for the 1.99 shirt is me too!! I always head to the clearance racks first. I LOVE thrift shops to, it is amazing what you’ll find. I always find brand new clothes, even brand names, at the used clothes stores.

  10. Jane says:

I like a bargain. I’m very frugal when it comes to spending but I do buy the best of what I need and usually will wait for a sale before buying. I really do NOT like buying used clothes. I like to be the only one who will be wearing what I wear.

  11. Elena says:

Thrift stores and yard sales are my thing, so yeah! Bargain hunters ahoy! 😀

  12. nikki says:

Oh I love yard sales!!!! What’s great about Minnesota is everyone is stuck inside all winter and tend to collect a lot of stuff, so every summer the yard sales are huge and often!!! It makes room for more junk to collect the next winter. One mans junk is another mans treasure!

  13. Amber says:

To the enth extreme! I love love love a bargain.. But bargain must be quality and truly bargain. Meaning I don’t just buy to buy. Must be needed and must be used. Otherwise it is just throwing away money.
