Nope. My dad used to have a pair back when I was about 9, and I was fascinated. I used to read the Laura Ingalls Wilder books in those days and I knew a children’s author (a neighbor), so I actually wrote a story that included a kid making his own snowshoes (completely made-up and inaccurate technique, of course). I submitted it as a first chapter of a book to my author friend, and he commented that I ought to do research on how to actually make snowshoes. This being before Al Gore invented the Internet, I gave up writing then and there. I’d still like to try snowshoeing someday, though.
I have not enjoyed that experience yet in my life! Looks like I might have a chance soon! Heading for the mountains.
Heck, I’ve never even seen a pair of snow shoes! And I’m okay with that. lol
Yes, I have and it is so much fun! You can trapes anywhere in those things! It’s really good exercise, but fun at the same time. My dad did make his own snowshoes and I remember a lot of swearing involved!
I have never snowshoed. It looks like fun but I’d have to buy snow pants first I imagine! Holy monkey it’s 30 above today!
No, never, didn’t know there was such a thing.
Ummmmm……no thanks! Ill be in the spa having a massage, call me when you are all finished ok? Oh and send the waiter with a glass of champagne on your way out. THANKS! Love ya!
I just love to go snowshoeing. For those of you who never have, it’s so much fun. I also know if you’ve not been raised like us with winters, it must sound nuts. Our first winter after we moved out here Paul and Toby made us a pair and they are really nice. They are the ones Toby and Sue are wearing in the header and the pic for this post. I got Paul and I new ones this year for Christmas that have boots that hook into them like ski’s. They are super cool. I also got them for the grandkids this year and they all loved them. It’s really fun to do. You can go places you’d never be able to go with them and see all kinds of wildlife.
