Yes we still use it!! We have lots of movies for the kids on VCR. But I think the days are counted.. It keeps spitting the tape out all the time. Very annoying.

  2. shane says:

Very seldom. When I turn it on it sounds like a jet engine firing up. It’s very loud, but atleast it doesn’t eat tapes. It’s days are numbered!!

  3. Doraz says:

Sure do! Like everyone else mentioned, I have those old movies I like to watch.

  4. Joy says:

I don’t buy VCR movies anymore but I do have a lot of old ones that we still watch occasionally so yes, for those I do use it. Also, if someone wants me to DVR something, I have no choice but to copy it to those tapes.

  5. nikki says:

We use it occasionally when the kids want to watch a movie we have on VHS. I have a lot of kids movies from when Bailey was little (when you could still buy VHS’s) so now my niece and daycare kids watch them. Other than that not really. We have DVR down stairs and if we really want to watch something in our bedroom we will record it on a VHS. Not very often.
I’m not even sure where to find VHS movies anymore other than like Ebay or something. Blockbuster doesn’t even rent them out anymore.

Joy… go to Megan’s blog! I am lmao!

    We have 2 VCRs.

One is hooked up to the computer – my fiance is using it to download home movies from his childhood onto the computer and digitize them. I’m not allowed to touch that one.

The other is part of the tiny bedroom TV. It lived at my parents’ house for about a year when I moved house (I forgot to get it back from them until a couple weeks ago). My mom said it eats tapes. So now I’m afraid to use it for anything but the TV. I don’t want to risk losing my precious Black Adder that I’m too cheap to replace on DVD…

  8. SKL says:

Very rarely. We only have a few of those old movies and aren’t big home movie watchers. About a month ago, my sister brought over “The Lion King” for my kids to watch, and had to figure out how to use the VCR in the basement. Other than that, we haven’t used it for years.

  9. Morocco says:

No, though we still have one that my husband bought for a low price at a yard sale. But then again, I hardly operate the DVD player either.

  10. Sue says:

Yes, I do when I want to do my Pilates workout. I like it, but haven’t been able to find it on DVD so I hope my VCR doesn’t die anytime soon!

  11. Just a Mom says:

We still use our VCR. We have a ton of family videos we watch. We are slowly converting them over to DVD so once that is done we probably won’t use it anymore.

  12. mssc54 says:

Yes, because we have waaaaay too many chileren’s movies.

I understand many of them are collectors items.

Do I hear any bids on the whole lot?

  13. Tosha says:

yep.. we have a ton of kids tapes that they like to watch

I’m a “gadget guy” and have to have the latest and greatest when it comes to technology. We haven’t had a VCR in our house in years. I spend a lot of money every year on the latest technology, it’s just the way I am. My wife reluctantly “puts up” with my technology fetish but I often hear from her about how much money I spend every year. HOWEVER, I don’t really hear her complain much when she is watching her favorite movies on blue ray, big screen T.V. in surround sound. 😉
