I used to, they all died! I give up. I only have a cactus plant for my kitchen window. I haven’t killed that….yet!!! Ha Ha

  2. SKL says:

You know, you are always asking these benign questions and bringing up weird stuff from my past.

Short answer: we have fake house plants. I don’t like them. I would rather have real ones or none at all. But, I don’t have time to fit out the whole house with real plants and take care of them, and I can’t convince certain people that fake plants are not impressive, so there you have it.

Now, the background story. Let’s see, 13 years ago, I started dating a friend from law school. We were attracted to each other intellectually, and basically hoped the rest would follow. We dated on and off for 6 years before finally calling it quits. The whole time, I was constantly criticized by him for several faults he saw in me. One fault was that I had fake house plants. He thought that was just the maximum extent of non-realness. (I am otherwise a very “real” person so one might think this small thing could be overlooked, but no.) The other things were my unimpressive hair, my refusal to wear snug jeans, my acceptance of friends voicing their opinions, and what else? Oh yeah, the fact that I was always tired after driving 6 hours to visit him. Sigh. To this day, I’m not sure whether I regret letting it go on for 6 years.

Fake ones (they’re not mine and am surprised they’re still livingish) but the kids are now trying to grow an apple tree so am having to learn quick how to keep it watered and alive hmph

  4. mssc54 says:

Yes and in addition to house plants we have plant like substances growing on one side of the house.

I would pressure wash it but I’m waiting to see if it developes into some sort of secret burried treasure map or something.

  5. Just a Mom says:

The only house plants I have are the green moldy ones that keep growing in my fridge! 🙂

Other than that I have a black thumb!

  6. Gary says:

We have three “fake” plants in our living room and even they are starting to turn brown and sag a little. 🙂

  7. nikki says:

Gary your FAKE plants are going brown!!?? That’s bad!
I have a few, one Sue gave me years ago. I have one that my mom gave me when Jason and I first got together. I also have one that was in my Mothers Day planter that I wasn’t sure would survive inside but it’s holding it’s own! Oh and a cactus!! I also have one fake one in our hallway upstairs.

  8. Joy says:

I do have a lot of houseplants. I love them. I’ve always had a lot of them. I don’t do the fake ones though. It’s to hard to keep them clean. I feel it’s easier to keep real ones alive than keep fake ones clean. Plus, the fake ones never change. I would tire of them.

  9. Sue says:

I do have houseplants. My mom had them when I was growing up and still has them. I have 5 now, but I moved my plant stand a couple of weeks ago and they are not liking the transition much. I can’t wait til it warms up a little so I can transplant them b/c I’m pretty sure they could all use a new pot and soil by now!

  10. kweenmama says:

We have houseplants but Hub has to take care of them because I kill them!

  11. Amy Hunter says:

I have lots of houseplants, and someday, when I buy more tables to put them on, I’ll have lots more!
