Thursday nights are always great for me…this means it’s FRIDAY when I wake up!! This is how a typical Friday goes for Bailey and I. We wake around 7am, have breakfast, well Bailey does anyway, then up to the bathroom to brush teeth and to put on the “Hot New York Nights” cologne. Having quite interesting conversations in the middle of all this. Continue getting ready for school and he’s out the door catching the bus by 8. I grab my coffee, wait at the window for the bus to come back by after about 2 minutes going around the block and we have our last wave to each other. I open my laptop and start my day…coffee, computer and a quite house.
Now lets talk about last Friday. This is how it started…you see we had a major snow storm Thursday and funny how this works but everything was shoveled except Baileys path to the bus. If the bus picked him up in front of our house, no big deal he could use the driveway, but the bus picks him up on the side of the house. We live on a corner lot. So as I’m getting Bailey ready I let Sari, our black Lab out. Here she is having the time of her life!! She sticks her nose in the snow then she shakes her entire head, it’s so funny!
Okay back to the point of this post. I notice that Baileys path had not been shoveled. My morning went from great to “you have got to be kidding me!” I now have 20 minutes to get my warm clothes on, shovel a butt load of snow and still make sure Bailey is 100% ready to get out that door at 8am. As I’m trying to find all my winter stuff I’m thinking to myself…my brother is laid off, he has nothing to do, he shoveled the driveway and the patio in the back yard but didn’t touch Bailey’s path! I can’t find my gloves OR my sunglasses (and yes those were a must) it was blinding out!! SO I give up on the glasses, even though I have 4 pair, can’t find my gloves so I resort to my 8 year old sons gloves. Sad but they actually fit quite nicely. 🙂
But guess what??? As I’m shoveling I hit something hard, sounds like metal. I reach down to see what this could be and low and behold it’s a BIKE!! I found Baileys bike. Now I’m not quite sure if it was lost but whatever, I found it! Yea, I felt pretty proud of myself, then the sight of the snow blinded me back into reality. I have only gotten 20 feet done and have 60 more to go!! I’m cold, I haven’t even had my coffee yet and I’m literally being blinded! But I got it done and boy do I feel accomplished. I am officially (sorry momma J) “MOTHER OF THE YEAR.” I just don’t have the little trophy! Here’s a picture of the path I had to shovel and better yet the bike I found!!! I kinda feel like I discovered some cool artifact or something.
I got Bailey onto the bus, waited for it to come back by to wave one last time, and guess what I did??? I went back to bed!! I couldn’t help it, my electric blanket was screaming at me to get back in I swear! It felt so good. I never do that and thought, hey it’s Friday and I don’t have daycare kids until 12! I got up at 10 had my coffee, shower and waited for my 6 month old to come. From the sounds of her screams I think she was having a crappy day too!!Another day down a million more to go. Bailey had an awesome day at school, we have the weekend together…doesn’t get much better than that!
I think this picture pretty much sums up how we felt about Friday morning!! Have a wonderful week!!!
Hey MOY!!!! I cannot believe you had to shovel that!!!! I would have been yelling at Josh to get his arse out there and shovel! Way to go. I’m not kidding when I say this, I’m just a little sad I missed the storm! There’s nothing like a good snow storm! Hey, guess what I found for you??? It’s not appropriate for a snowstorm if that gives you ANY cluses!!!
Ok I’m tired just reading that. I hope we are about done with snow here. I would rather mow grass. Nice find on the bike!

I can’t believe you shoveled all that either! I would have been saying “hey bro, get up and HELP me!” Sari looks so funny. Echo loved playing in the snow like that too. The bike is cracking me up.
That was a great storm once everyone got home and I didn’t need to worry about anyone driving. You do have to admit that it’s really pretty.
java, LMAO….great trophy!!!
Love the photos, all that snow! I love snow, but then again, I’ve never had to shovel driveways or paths. I’m so glad you got your trophy, too. You really deserved it!
I think any one who shovels snow for their kid should get a trophy AND a snow blower for their husband’s birthday! 😉
OH… That was SO FUNNY! Sorry to laugh at your day, but I felt like I was there. Finding the bike artifact lol. , I hate when I try to do stuff without coffee. Here’s Mother of the year award for today to Nikki!
ROFLMAO!!!!!! This is great!!! I really get a trophy??? YES!
SUE!!! You KNOW I don’t like surprises!! COME ON…tell me! It’s NOT a bikini because I told you that I was WAAAY too good looking for one of those. I’d have to fight all the boys off! LMAO I can’t wait for the 14th!
Oh man, I would have grabbed the hair dryer, an extension cord and just attacked it from the door in my bunny slippers! Or called in sick. I have nothing to shovel for myself and still hate the snow 😛
I know what your getting Nikki, ha, ha, ha!!!!! What’s the 14th?
That isn’t even fair! All I asked for was some sand!!!!! Enough to cover my toesies and pretend I’m on an island!! 🙂
The 14th we are going out with Toby and Sue. It’s their end of bowling, and hopefully Matt will have the St.Patty’s party!! Plus I just need to get out of this house!!! I’m SUPER excited! You in????
You definetly get “Mom of the Year!”
Great pictures too.
This is why I live in South Texas!
A St. Patty’s party? Green Beer….I’m definitely in. That is the one and only time of the year I go to SOB’s.
YES Green beer!!! That is if he has it on that night. I don’t know for sure yet, Sue would know more about that! We’re going regardless!! I know how much you LOVE that green beer! 🙂
I only get out that once a year and I don’t know why I get a kick out of it but I do.
JavaJunkee sent me. She said you deserve to be Mom of the Week!
She didn’t say why, just that we should come check you out. I’m glad I did!!
I agree! You do deserve a trophy!!
Cool pics, too!
Thanks Trishatruly! Appreciate that!! 🙂
You do deserve it Nikki but I’m not giving up my trophy!! LMAO!!!
Ahh, the memories . . . when I was a teen, we lived in the snow belt and there were times I had to shovel 4 times a day so my mom and dad could get their cars out and in. (Never mind the fact that I had 3 brothers.) I also walked miles in the snow every day, because I walked to school & back (about a mile each way) and had 2-3 daily paper routes. Because many people didn’t shovel their walks, I trudged through a lot of knee-deep snow. I’m pretty sure that if I needed to find my way through the snow to get to the school bus, my mom would not have shoveled. Bailey is a lucky boy.
I am the worst if you get me up in the morning and make me bust my butt before my coffee. You know what they say, if Mama isn’t happy, no-o-obody’s happy.
LMAO..SKL you are right! If mama isn’t happy….
Joy, I didn’t think you’d hand over the trophy! lmao…you have deserved that 100 times over! 🙂
Love the photo!
You will have to wait and see, Nikki!!! This one I’m making a surprise:)
Wow, you DO deserve an award Nikki! Nice job finding the bike! LOL
Bailey looks JUST LIKE YOU!!! 😀
You need to get a snowblower Nikki! Especially living in Minnesota!! ROFLMAO!!
I would say your son has THE best Mom to have shoveled that path.I think I would have let mine trudge through it!Maybe its a good thing I dont have kids.LOL!!
OK,Joy needs to let me in on what Sue is bringing ya…the suspense is KILLING me!!Got me curious now!!LOL!!
