I don’t get it

The Blue Truck

The Blue Truck

Men are weird.  Not that I didn’t know that already, but this morning just confirmed my suspicion!  When I got home this morning, I started cleaning the house b/c nothing had been done last night while I was gone.  No big surprise…that was a previous post.  Today is also garbage day so I went around to all the cans, emptied them, and took it outside.

On my way to the garbage can I thought I should check out my husband’s truck and throw away any garbage in there.  I knew full well there was garbage in there b/c he NEVER throws it out!  I open the door and am amazed.  Thankfully, he doesn’t have piles of fast food bags or month old food in there.  He just has water bottles (at least 3 at all times, with water still in them, one is not even open!), his pay stubs from 3 years ago, loose change, cords from cell phones long ago, and other misc. junk that does not need to be in a truck.  He has a sand box on the floor (I am exaggerating at this point, but really it’s a lot of gravel/rocks), pieces of candy from the kids that fell, and everything is covered in dust.  The center console thing is so dirty that I pry it out so I can wash in with soap and water.  I proceed to clean out his truck for the next 45 min!  I vacuumed, shook out the mats (which were NASTY), and dusted.  How he read the speedometer is beyond me!

My car is no immaculate space either, however, I’m not afraid to look under the seats!!!  What I don’t get is that his truck is his baby!  He loves this thing.  He will spend all afternoon washing it, polishing it, and then driving home at 5 mph just so it doesn’t get dirty.  If he takes such good care of it on the outside, why oh, why wouldn’t he take care of the inside??!!!!  I love him and all his craziness, but that was a little too much!  I’m going to wait and see how long it takes him to notice.

when you figure it out can you clue me in? My husband doesn’t take care of the inside or outside of any of the vehicles..that too falls under my job description I guess. His idea of maintenence is…when it stops running put some oil in it or pay somebody to fix it.
I have to make sure oil changes are done…etc. Now back to your point. His van which yes is a work van but sometimes he has to pick the daughter up in it..sometimes I have had to ride in it and it’s a friggin pit! Just like his bathroom which I am almost refusing to clean.
I have paid the kids to go clean out the garbage from it. I’d like to just have the garbage people who do the bins pick it up and dump it out. There is NO reason for it.
…so once you get the answer pass it onto us other women dealing with the same crapola!

I still don’t have an answer for you jj! He rides to work with his dad everyday so that truck is MUCH worse than the blue truck. There comes a point that I just refuse to ride in it!

cousin like cousin, lol, Eric is the same way! He LOVES his jeep explorer and keeps it shiny on the outside. He FINALLY after like a month-and me wondering where the H*ll all my cups and glasses went-brings in last night TEN or more of them from his car!! He drives to work w/coffee and leaves them in there. He throws trash all over the floors too! Men-they get use to woman picking up for them or just care about the outside the most! Good post 🙂

Well it either runs in the family or every man does it. When I’m out of coffee mugs I know to look in Jason’s truck! I have found plates in there, it can be scary! But as long as the outside is clean, it’s all good! Cute post Sue, I really like this one!

He’s gonna HAVE to notice. I know I’d notice if someone cleaned out my car! You got a lucky guy there. That was so nice of you to do!

My huz use to be a freak about the cars but being together for 20 years and 3 kids later… he’s just more relaxed about it- thank GOODNESS!

My two sons just cleaned out my car 3 days ago- it is such a good feeling when it’s all clean and tidy! I love it!

He did notice, but it doesn’t take long for it to look like a pig stye again. We have 2 kids and you’d think it’d get better, but it’s worse! He’s constantly yelling at them to not make a mess and I think “that’s the pot calling the kettle black!”

  4. Not a clue….. I am the opposite; I like to have the inside clean and somewhat tidy, but always put off getting the outside spiffed up. Bizarre!

I think it’s a guy thing or at least my guy, hes the same way. I’m sure there are exceptions to the rule. Nice truck by the way I bet it’s nice now that sparkles inside and out.

Hmmmmmmm, I must be an odd bird because I have always kept the inside and ouside of my cars equally clean. I can’t stand to drive around in a garbage can!!! I don’t leave trash of any kind behind in my car and make sure none of the kids do either.

I guess I’m a little OCD when it comes to my cars???

  7. Great post, Sue, I really enjoyed it! I totally laughed as well – and though I may be only at the precious age of 18, I can safely say… MEN!!! Taking care of the outside of the car with so much love and obsessive tenderness, but leaving the inside all mucky and dirty.
I wonder if he really will notice though? I find so many guys don’t even notice if they’re surrounded by dirt!

I don’t get it either. I HATE when there’s junk in my car. Every single time I go in the house from my car, I take any garbage out with me. I can’t stand for there to be stuff in my car. I’ve always been this way. I think I get it from my dad. Both my husbands vehicle and mine are always very clean on the outside but if you open any of his doors, watch out. You WILL be hit on the feet with water bottles. Some are like Sue mentioned and still full of water. A week ago today we were on our way to eat out and I got irritated and pulled right over to the garbage can and I’ll bet we threw away no less than 10 water bottles, napkins, Kleenex, paper, gum wrappers…..etc. I was also “afraid” to put my hand under the seats!

I also never eat in my car so I don’t have anything unless I stop for one of my favorite cappuccino’s and then I never leave that cup in the car either. I just feel I’m going in anyway, may as well take everything in with me. I also have many bad habits but this isn’t one of them.

Any of you married to an electrician? Just in the nature of their work, they often have every kind of tiny little fastening device you can imagine in all shapes and colors in their pockets during the day. Those pockets don’t get emptied til they get to the truck–and that stuff is every where. My husband also refuses to carry change in his pockets. I think if I cleaned out the change from the holders all over the place inside his truck–maybe I could retire. Once a soda spilled into all that change. I don’t need to tell you what happened after it dried in there. I don’t say anything about the inside of his vehicle–mine is challenged as well…But, I don’t have stuff half way up the seat behind me….*sigh*

Sometimes when you’re in your truck you just want to relax and not worry about the stuff that needs to be done every where else.
