100,000 hits..we did it girls

100000Well girls, we did it.  Not only did we stay alive.  Not only do we have a wonderful blog family and good following but we’ve hit a magic mark. 100,000 hits!  Can you believe it?

I wouldn’t even be here without Jen Henry and I’d like to thank her first and foremost.  Thank you Jen for your patience and your patience and your patience.  I literally knew nothing of URL’s or ANYTHING  about blogging.  So, thank you Jen for everything.  I would also like to thank SKL who’s been here with me and giving me advice and encouragement from day one.  Thank you SKL.  I would also like to thank Jane.  I know your reading you lurker you. I hope one day you come back on to comment.  I know why you don’t and that’s okay.  You were here when we really needed you and I thank you for your kindness in the beginning.  Feel free to come back.  I’ll fight for you to the end.

We also want to thank everyone who comes here and most importantly, everyone who comes here and comments and talks to us. To us, that’s what matters the most.  I mean, it’s nice to know how many people come and read but when people take the time to comment, it makes it all seem worthwhile.  If nobody says anything, you think what you wrote isn’t worth talking about.  For a long time after I got sitemeter, I would go on and see where everyone was coming from but I don’t do that to often anymore.  I am astonished as to how many people come on and spend a long time reading though.  You are here often yet just don’t say anything so thanks for that also.  The hits all add up.

I don’t really pay attention to the number of hits.  I don’t think that’s what important to any of us.  We like the talking back and forth so we usually just go by how many comments we get and that’s about as far as it goes.  I’ve had others comment or write to me when I got close to blogging milestones but I’ve never written about it before but this one is kind of big.  I know there was a little “controversy” on Monday but let me explain how we feel about “hits.”  We aren’t blogging for the hits.  If I had 5000 hits a day and no comments, I’d be devastated.  We LOVE the back and forth we have with our blogging family and friends and to us, that’s what’s important.  We could really care less about the hit part of blogging and I don’t really care who sees us, you are the most important to us and your comments.  It is NOT and never has bee about “being seen” or getting hits.

So here’s the breakdown of our 100,000 hits.

Our number one post, and I can’t believe we are still getting hits and comments on it is one of Lisa’s.

12 year old wants her belly button pierced!!  It’s gotten 101 comments.  It’s had 4,902 views.  I can’t even imagine that one.

Legal private gun sales has gotten 647 views.

Banning smoking in vehicles when children are in them got us our first “disagreement.”

Our busiest day to date was Monday for our anniversary party.  We had 653 hits.  Our party has the most comments at 112.

Another busy day:572 — September 3, 2008  That is a lot of traffic for one day.  I’m not sure if it was the topic or what it was but I was blown away.

One more busy day was May 28, 2008 with 569 views.

We’ve written 1,090 posts.

Had 12,949 comments.

So thanks everyone for coming here and spending time with us. We are having a great time and I think it’s been good for us.  I never thought in my wildest dreams that this would happen when I started this.  I didn’t think my girls would be interested but I think they love doing it too.  We have met so many neat people and it’s thanks to you that this blog continues.  Without you all, I wouldn’t put this effort because as you all well know, it takes a lot of work to do this.  So thanks to all of you.

Aww, you are the one who saved me at that “wicked evil place” where we first met. This has been my favorite blog since you started it. I am really glad that it’s enjoyable for you. Every once in a while I get the itch to spill my guts on “my own blog,” but I know I could never do it on an ongoing basis. This is a real accomplishment.

As for the hits, I must confess I was really wishing I’d be #100,000. Oh well, congratulations to you and to whoever was #100,000!

I’ve enjoyed meeting you this past year…especially since you really are my neighbors just to the North…it really is a small world…I think bantering with people from all over the world this past year literally, has confirmed to me again and again, we really do have so much in common. Congrat’s on your anniversary and 100,000 hits! DM

This is awesome momma J!!!!!!!! I can remember when we thought 10,000 was big!! Now 100,000 hits!! You make all this possible, Sue and I write posts but not as many as you do and you do all the work putting it all together!! So thank YOU!!

That belly button one makes me laugh every time someone comments on it. It was so long ago, I can’t believe girls still comment. It’s the one that never goes away! LOL I love to write, but sometimes I have major brain blockage, which is going on right now. I could write a book about my childhood but I don’t. Why? Because some things are hard to explain, how do you explain something you don’t understand yourself? Another reason is I don’t want this blog to be depressing in any way and believe me it would make you feel sorry for me and that is not what I want. I’d rather write about everyday events or funny little things that pop into my mind. With a little serious, emotional stuff sprinkled in there. It is intimidating to put yourself out there and have either no one comment or have people misunderstand what you’re saying. That can be tough, but it’s all been a learning experience to me. I have met some of the most loving and genuine people. I have met some of the craziest people who make me smile and laugh my ass off pretty much on a daily bases. So thank you to the ones that take the time to read and comment and thank you to the ones that just take the time to read. It means a great deal to us. If it weren’t for all of you this wouldn’t be nearly as fun!!! 🙂

  11. WOOHOO!!! I am so glad that you women decided to do this; it introduced me to new friends that I am truly grateful for. Keep writing, keep smiling and congrats!!! Sending big hugs and mwah mwah mwah!!!

  13. Just a Mom says:

Way to go! Man, you guys must be pretty darn sore after all those hits! I hope you wear protection! 🙂

  14. Sue says:

I can’t even believe it! We have come a long way and you really deserve all the credit, Joy. It’s been great getting to know all the bloggers that we’ve come to know as “family” and has helped us to see that we are not the only crazy people out there! All of you who come made this possible and I really love to read what everyone has to say! I know we have lots of “lurkers” and maybe someday they’ll comment, but until then I hope you continue to read what we have to say and enjoy it as much as we do! Thanks everyone! Now, if we can just get Jason to write again…!

  15. starlaschat says:

That was nice to see the breakdown. You must have a lot of Lurkers LOL . That’s funny lurkers, I’m too chatty to be a lurker and some times get my chatty self into trouble. But that’s OK. It’s my nature. I also really appreciate the comments. Blogging has brought me one surprise that I was not prepared for and that is how I would feel so heart felt towards people that I have not met in person. That my heart would truly care for other Bloggers. So I know what you mean that Blogging is a multi layered gift.

  16. I’d like to thank YOU, Joy. Your blog is not only part of my daily routine, but also a place I go because I just have fun here. I am always interested in your opinions and in the stories and anecdotes you all post here. I feel like I’m glimpsing some of your family life, and I feel incredibly flattered that you choose to share with us, your loyal readers.

I hope you keep writing and writing and writing so that I can keep reading and reading and reading :). Congratulations on the big number, you totally deserve this milestone and the realization that you’re [switch to valley-girl accent here] LIKE, TOTALLY POPULAR!

  17. Gary says:

Hitting 100,000 hits doesn’t suprise me at all. This blog and you lovely ladies ROCK!!! I enjoy your blog every day and can’t wait to read, comment and read other comments that are found here!!

Keep up the AWESOME work and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  18. Jennifer says:

Congratulations Joy! The others are absolutely right….you really deserve all of the credit. You were and are still a quick learner and it didn’t take long at all for you to far surpass anything I had shown you! I’m sorry that I’m not around as often these days as I’d like…I think I’ve finally found more of that work/home balance that I often wrote about, but unfortunately it hasn’t left much time for blogging. I hope to be back real soon!

  19. Tessa says:

Congratulations girls. I really do enjoy coming here and getting to know you all better!
