I don’t think I have had it yet. My granddaughter is due to be born in 5 weeks on my birthday, June 9th. I think this year will be my best birthday ever.

None come to mind. Mine are always pretty low-key and I like them that way. I’ve had some really funny and sad and ridiculous things happen on my birthday, but nothing that you’d copy in planning the next one . . . .

As many of you know “biggest and best” are not necessarily the same. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Biggest party was when I made E4 in the Navy. Back in the mid 70s Sailors didn’t need much of an excuse for a kegger. lol

Best was when my Mrs. took me away for a weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

The “biggest/best” is the one yet to come.

The best was March 2000,I turned 40 and was a surprise put on by my family.BOTH my parents were alive and there. All my birthdays were great, but that was the bestest.

It’s strange – I tend to remember the bad birthdays more than the good birthdays. I have LOADS of those stories. But that’s not what you asked.

One of the best I can remember was when I turned 22. My boyfriend at the time and his friends took me out to a fondue restaurant, where his rich friend unexpectedly paid for everyone, and then we all went back to his apartment and stayed up all night playing PlayStation and drinking. I don’t know why, but it was a birthday where I walked away feeling really content.

My birthday’s are pretty low key considering it’s two days after Christmas and people are kinda tired of “parties” but my 40th was really fun. Since I hate surprises, I planned my own party. My brother and nephews came out and a bunch of neighbors came over and we had a bunch of appetizers and then went to the bar and played darts for a while. It was really fun. I’m not really a huge fan of birthday parties but it was fun getting together with everyone.

I love birthdays! I think the day one is born is important to celebrate with a bang. My biggest was my 21st. All my friends, Darryl, Shane, Eric all went to the “Crab Shack”, we drank and danced at a night club, then Eric and I stayed at Hinkley Casino in a really beautiful suite with a jacuzzi. Very nice!! I had a blast and even remember the whole night! My friends and family were the best!

    Need I say more???

  9. Just a Mom says:

All of my birthdays have been the best but each for its own reason. I was born on my brother’s 3rd birthday so our birthdays were always a big deal in our house. I remember for my 9th birthday I had a sleepover and we stayed up all night playing black jack and betting with candy. Nobody was allowed to come back after that one! For my 18th birthday my mom took me out to a super nice restaurant. This past birthday my girls made me a cake by themselves because, “Dad never gets me a cake!” as they said. So to me each one is great!

For some reason I’m reminded of my 12th birthday. It was sort of a “coming of age” for me. My granny took me to get my ears pierced, my other grandma made me a dress exactly to my specifications, and I wore the dress and earrings when my parents took me out to dinner (just me for a change) at a very nice restaurant, where the violinist came and played at our table (I played violin at the time). The thing that made it special was that both of my parents cared to make it unique and special for me, which is rare when you’re the 3rd of 6 kids.

I am hoping that this birthday will be the best yet! I don’t have one that stands out, but this year I’m planning on a good one!

  12. nikki says:

I don’t either Sue, last year was the most fun I had for my birthday though. We went to Valley Fair, and I went on a lot of rides…but got hurt in the process. Still, we had a blast. I’m hoping this year is better, I’d love to have a real birthday party just for ME. I have never had one since I have been an adult.

I LOVE valleyfair, I miss it! I told Ben yesterday one day he will go. I cannot believe how expensive it has gotten!! So much. You and Sue need to have a BIG bash for the 3-0 ๐Ÿ™‚ I cannot believe I will be 3-0 in 4 years! Crazy how fast it starts to go.
