I use the canvas bags as much as possible. If I forget or don’t have enough I get plastic…too much chance of roaches in the the plastic ones then we line the small garbage cans with.

  2. Karen Joy says:

Plastic.I like to use them in garbage cans at home.

  3. Joy says:

If I do the shopping, which is rare because Paul likes to go on the weekends, but if it’s me, I put a paper bag inside the plastic. I use them for my dirty litter. I also like the way it keeps them from rolling all over the back of my Tahoe. I also use the plastic ones for my small garbage bins throughout the house.

Funny you should mention this….just today my hubby said what happened to my grocery bag? I had removed them from the van before going on our trip. We use a canvas bag that I once purchased in Canada so it has the big red maple leaf. Down here (Arizona)there is no paper bags in stores, just plastic and they really want you to use your own.

    • Joy says:

I would love a bag with the Maple Leaf on it. I think it’s great that AZ encourages green. I really do like the idea of our own bags but I have to admit, I’d forget it every time I went to the store just like I forget my coupons and my list!!! I think the blond I pay to have put in my hair is seeping into my brain! LOL!

I love that you come to the blog Adell. Thank you.

Mostly plastic unless I know we are going to fry up some wings or french fries. Then I’ll get a couple of paper bags to drain the grease on.

  6. SKL says:

I have the cloth bags too, but sometimes I forget to bring them into the store. Then I go with plastic. Less likely to rip, easier to reuse.

  7. Just a Mom says:

I use plastic. I am soooo bad about being green! 😦

  8. nikki says:

Plastic mostly, I use them in my garbage cans. I don’t normally do the grocery shopping and I prefer not to touch paper!

  9. megan says:

I bring my own canvas bags. They sell them for a dollar at the grocery story I frequent. They are much sturdier, with a reinforced bottom, and hold about four times as much as a regular bag.

    • Joy says:

I’m going to have to get myself a few of those bags. It’s such a little thing to do. Now remembering them when I go, that’s another story.

  10. Doraz says:

I try to use the bags I buy from each of the stores…but, if I forget them..whatever the bag clerk wants! 🙂

Plastic so that I can use them in my waste baskets at home. I have a friend who knows how to crochet them into beach bags. It’s pretty cool.

    • Joy says:

I would love to get that pattern. Do you think she’d give it to you? That would be so cool. I wonder if you could knit them. I can knit much better than I can crochet.

      • Karen Joy says:

I had a client who sat and crocheted those. She said it took ALOT of plastic bags to make just one..thus they were SUPER strong.Cool idea!

    • Joy says:

I found a pattern for knitting these online. Guess what I’ll be doing now?? That hardest part looks like cutting them. Other than that, it’s a simple easy pattern that I can easily do. Thanks Kween for the awesome idea.

  12. Sue says:

Plastic b/c like everyone else, I use them in the garbage cans!

  13. joanharvest says:

I use my own canvas bags. Once in a while I will get plastic for kitty litter or to use as trash can liners. When I owned my store I never bought bags to give customers for their purchases. I had customers bring me their used bags. It saved me money and helped the environment a tiny bit.

  14. birdpress says:

I don’t think any place has paper here, other than Whole Foods, and when I go there I use canvas because I’m afraid of the looks I’d get if I didn’t. But everywhere else I usually forget the canvas bag and get plastic, which I reuse as garbage bags, or recycle. Most stores at least have spots to bring them your used plastic bags.

  15. Tosha says:

plastic. We use them for so many things.. Garbage bags, hauling supplies, Dh uses them when he catches fish to give them to others so we don’t waste our zip bags. We also use them to put nasty diapers in or when kids leave stuff here that they need to take home. they are re used over and over again..
