Bill owns a company that manufactures and installs car wash systems. Bill’s company installed a car wash system in Frederick , Virginia. These are complete systems, including the money changer and money-taking machines.
The problem started when the new owner complained to Bill that he was losing significant amounts of money from his coin machines each week. He would often find hundreds of quarters scattered around the machines
He went as far as to accuse Bill’s employees of having a key to the boxes and ripping him off. Bill just couldn’t believe that his people would do that, so they setup a camera to catch the thief in action. Well, they did catch him on film!
The “thief” turned out to be a European Starling – a bird that is attracted to shiny objects, and uses them to line it’s nest to attract a mate. Several birds were working together. One would go into the machine to jimmy the coins loose, and others would come in and retrieve the ill-gotten booty.
Wow that’s amazing! Cought the thief’s red handed nice to have cams today to break these kind of cases wide open!
that is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. If I got one of those birds I may never have to work again! Wonder where you can get one! 😉
That is awesome! I hope the owner apologized!
Did you ever find out who was training the birds? They gotta work on the delivery part.
