Dear Brett Farve,
I’d like to thank you for the huge disappointment you have handed all of us Vikings fans today. If you want to retire, then RETIRE for heavens sake but why drag us all through it? Is your ego so big you need us all to tell you how much we need you and how much we want you?? Have you thought about how it would feel for us fans to watch you run through the tunnel at Lambeau Field in a Vikings jersey on a Monday night game??
Have you given any thought to how it would feel for us to maybe, finally, have a chance to be a contender for the big game? Even if we didn’t get to that big game, at least we’d have a good season and a good quarterback. Have you given any thought to your flip flopping ALL SUMMER LONG and then, YES, you wanted to come here and the fact that you went and had your surgery and YES, you were feeling good and practicing and you wanted to play here?? Have you given any thought to anyone but your own selfish needs and wants?? Have you given any thought how it felt to know you and your wife were looking for homes in Edina?
You say you’re afraid you’d fall apart before the season were over. That maybe you’re to old to give it one more year. What I’d like to know is did you forget how old you were all year long until today? How does one forget that?
I don’t know about other people but us here, in this house and in our family, we bleed purple and if you need more proof, read this US VIKING FANS and you’ll see, we love our team and we would have loved you.
I don’t blame you for wanting to retire but DO IT ALREADY. Don’t keep doing this. Getting our hopes up and then backing out at the last minute. Make your mind up already. Be a man about it. Retire like Elway or Aikman or Kelly, with dignity. Not like this “should I or shouldn’t I” bullshit and making stupid Sears commercials that you even joke about not being able to make up your mind about buying a TV for crying out loud. WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YOU?? We are real people with real feelings and we looked forward to your coming here “FOR SURE”, ALL SUMMER LONG and now 2 days before training camp, you wimp out on us??

I’m sorry Sue if just beat around the bush and didn’t make myself clear. You have to admit to the disappointment. I think he’s a game player at this point. His “reasons” were lame and make him sound like a fool. I’m to old?? Really, did that just dawn on him this morning?

NO VICK! He should never be able to play in the NFL ever! Isn’t he doing construction right now for probably $10 an hour! GOOD! Serves him right!
WOW I share your passion, although I don’t want him to burn in hell. LOL I know you don’t REALLY want that either. I know you were upset yesterday, I was too. I had my heart set on that. To see him in Purple & Gold would have been most Vikings fans dream! Some never wanted him though, no part of GB in MN!! I think that is silly, he’s (was) a damn good QB! I almost see him changing his mind again! Something just tells me that. Then I’m not sure how I would feel, very leery that’s for sure. I mean Reebok had already planned on manufacturing jerseys, what would have happened if they did. How much money would have been wasted! He wasted our time, got our hopes up then shit on us! OMG a spider just came down in front of my face!!! Anyways….I’m with ya, HIGHLY disappointed and I’m betting he will not be as loved by our die hard LOYAL fans. He would have been so lucky to play for the Purple & Gold! You know what though, we don’t need him to have a great season, it’s our year right!? RIGHT!
Aw, it sucks when our favorite players/singers/bands or other people we like to be fans of disappoint… It always feels like such a personal disappointment too!

I love your passion and willingness to wear your fan support on your sleeve. I told you yesterday, almost within minutes of hearing the news myself, that I was eagerly awaiting your letter, and you didn’t disappoint!
Perhaps I should consider a letter of my own to our Diamondbacks manager, A.J. Hinch. I’m afraid my use of words longer than four letters might dissuade him from reading it, though.
well, i agree with all of what u said joy, exept the part where u said rot in hell. i am not a vikings fan, sorry, i am a GB fan all the way and i am REALLY disapointed in brett! what is he thinking goin to play greenbays rivalry team?! i have lost all my respect for him. i cant believe it and i have a feeling that he is going to be comeing back to some team and saying he wants to play just to bail out and say “never mind i decided to retire” …AGAIN!
I feel your pain… we had this same crap in Chicago years ago with Michael Jordan… basketball, baseball… basketball… retire, retire the jersey/number, come back, retire, go somewhere else and BUY THE TEAM, they suck so come out of retirement…
Honestly, I believe the team management should just step in and say, “look, I don’t give a crap WHO you are, this is our offer, and our deadline. Meet it or get the hell out.”
But these guys are so full of themselves that they can’t see beyond their own egos, and figure everyone just worships the ground they walk on. And unfortunately, the teams do just that.
