I did not go to preschool and I’m not sure if they had started it yet when I was that age. I remember my brother going to some type of ECFE class, but am not sure if it was preschool or a parent/child class. My daughter went to preschool and my son is going now. They are so excited to go to school at that age that it’s fun for them and any way I can get my kids to like school is incentive for me!

  2. Lucy says:

I went to preschool program and if I had kids I would also send them to some type of preschool program.

  3. mssc54 says:

    I go to preschool everyday…twice in fact. Once around 7:40 a.m. and then again between 3:15 – 5 p.m.

But if you mean did I attend preschool, no I don’t think they even had preschool back then.

They didnt have pre-school in my days.I did send mytwo youngest and they loved it.Itwasonly a few mornings a week 🙂

I didn’t go to preschool. I did start KG at age 4. One sister went to pre-school half days at age 3 and then started KG at age 4. Another sister went to a church program called “cherub club” 2 days a week at age 3-4.

I am sending my kids to preschool. It’s actually a day care that has an academic-oriented structure. Preschool or not, I’ve always believed in teaching academics at an early age. The kids are doing great; the time was right to switch from nanny to group care/instruction.

  6. Tony says:

I went to pre-school & so did my kids

  7. Gary says:

I did not got to pre-school and my kids did not either. We always had pre-school for them at home so to speak. I think pre-school is a GREAT thing and some kids really need to go to make the transition into grade school easier for them.

  8. Joy says:

There wasn’t preschool for me but we started K when we were 4. Jason didn’t go to preschool because that was the fall we moved and he kind of just got lost but Toby went. I felt with Jason, Toby was home and I did so many things with him and when it was Toby’s turn, Jason was in school so I felt he needed the companionship. If I had to do it again, I’d put both boys in it. Like Sue said, the kids get such a big kick out of it. Christopher just thinks he’s so cool to go.

  9. Laura says:

I didn’t go to preschool, but I did go to a program called Tot-Lot… it was mostly just a park-district sponsored kiddie playgroup. But I enjoyed it.

Josh went to 4-year old preschool, more for the socialization than for the academics of it. He should have gone to a program they have in most of Iowa called “Pre-K”, designed for kids who are too advanced for another year of 4yo Preschool, but not quite ready for Kg. So he ended up repeating Kindergarten, which is where he is now… in his second year of Kg.

I didn’t go to pre-school. I honestly don’t think they had it back in the 70’s, I just stayed home with my mom. I started kindergarten at 5 1/2.
My oldest daughter did not attend pre-school but she stayed at home with my mom. She was reading books at 4 1/2 so I don’t think she suffered too much!
My youngest daughter did attend Pre-K when she was 4. Mostly because it was better than daycare. She went for half a day and I worked part-time then.

Yes I did…I remember all the doors had different colors to help us remember which one was or class. It’s the only time I rode the bus too. I remember singing..the wheels on the bus go round and round…

oh yea and Bailey went to preschool too. I think it’s good for them whether they “need” it academically or not. Socially I think it prepares them for kindergarten. He loved it!

  12. Tosha says:

I dont think I attended preschool. My oldest did and did well with it.. Cole went a few weeks until Hurricane rita hit and caused his asthma to be so out of control that the dr said literally for us not to let him outside at all b/c hte hurricane had stirred up so much crap. we were in and out of the hospital and drs office alot. so we had to remove him from prek.. and he just started kindergarten the next year. Jewel went to prek and had the same teacher taylor did but she didnt learn much at all.. I havent decided yet if Wyatt will go. It depends on if there is a need for it or not..
