If the Pioneers were given 12 hours to use it, what one hand/power tool do you think they would choose? Household appliance? Why?

Hmm. How about one of those handheld, cordless rotary tools that can be a drill, screwdriver, lathe, etc?
And during harvest season, a food processor? Maybe it would make preserving food for the winter easier? I don’t know. 12 hours ain’t much.
Personally I would want running water, but I’d want it for more than 12 hours!
If they only had 12 hours.Give them a powered chainsaw.Cut straight for 12 hours. All the wood they would need for building and for heating their homes.Cutting wood with a hand saw is hard and takes forever 🙂
Pammy, that’s what started this question! My brother and I were taking down a tree on my property, and he wondered aloud how much the Pioneers would have gotten done if they’d just had a chainsaw for 12 hours.
Which prompted me to start thinking about what else they could use for that time… was there anything else that would be as useful? More useful?
Tough question…I’d say chainsaw too…
I’d also say chainsaw
Welll, I guess it depends on whether they were in a woodsy area, but if they were, I agree 12 hours of chainsaw would give them a good bang for their buck.
While pondering this, I never thought of a chainsaw. That’s a good answer. I thought of a hammer and nails. The household appliance would be a stove. They could can for the whole season with that. I thought about a washing machine but not for just 12 hours.
Yea a stove for cooking then canning would be helpful too!
I bet the men would choose a chain saw for cutting wood and the women would use a mixer.
They would get A LOT done in one day with those two devices. LOL
Without question it would be a BULLDOZER!!
They could clear the land, dig a cannal, dig a pond and create a barracade all in a 24 hour period!
