Question of the day

Santa Baby and various other “modern” takes on the holiday.
Hmm I can;t really think of one… I don’t particularly like any song, but I dont hate one either
I have others, but my “big two” are songs that, to me, aren’t even Christmas Songs. Just because they happen to take place/mention Christmas, does not a “Christmas Song” make…
“Last Christmas” by Wham!
“Same Old Lang Syne” by Dan Fogelberg
I, too, have much disdain for Santa Baby, especially Madonna’s version. And this will probably irritate others, but Feliz Navidad gets turned off every time. Too repetitive.
I’ll have think about this one!
NONE of them! I like them all. 😀
The song where the Reindeer runs over Grandma 😦 .I DON’T Like That Song.
But I love “The Red Christmas Shoes” I even have the movie and its my favorite.I know its sad.but I love how the young son Loves his mom so much and what he does for her 🙂
LOL!! We were answering at the same time and said the same song!! How funny is that??? I wonder if it’s because we are both grandma’s now?????
I can’t stand the Grandma got ran over by a reindeer, Santa baby type songs. Christmas songs that were written to make jokes, I don’t really care for. I also don’t care for Jingle Bell Rock. While I like Joy To The World now, as a child I hated it. Every time we’d sing that song in church or choir, everyone would look at me and I just hated the attention of that.
Ha ha, that is funny. My sister is keeping one puppy from the latest litter and her name is Joy. My youngest daughter is smitten with Joy because when Joy was tiny, she had a purple collar on (yeah, THAT daughter). She is also starting to read a little bit. So during our weekly shopping, every time I find something that says “Joy” on it, I show it to my kid so she can get all excited about it. I even bought an ornament that says “Joy” on it just for that reason. Every time my kids hear Joy to the World or any other song with Joy in it (apparently there are several), they say “like the purple puppy!” My oldest daughter now refers to one of the songs as “the Joy song” because it says “Joy, Joy, Joy” so many times. The thought crossed my mind that it must be interesting to be named “Joy” at this time of year!
By the way, I don’t mind Santa Got Run Over By a Reindeer. I guess it’s because it came out when I was a teen.
Duh, I mean “Grandma” got run over . . . .
And I’m also finding it hard to avoid the temptation of singing “Jingle Bells, Santa Smells” around my kids. Terrible mom!
LOL!!! In another few years, they’ll sing it to you like it was a brand new song you’ve never heard before!!!
I was a very shy child and I didn’t like it in any way, shape or form at Christmas. Sometimes I would get “sick” so I could skip going to some of the programs.
baby its cold outside gets on my last nerve..but there really are a long list of christmas songs that get annoying..
I am so with Tosha on this one..we just talked about this. If I hear one more rendition of that damn song somebody is losing a vocal cord!
Breaking from the crowd… I love “Grandma Got Run Over…” and a lot of the other goofy songs.
I think it’s the ones that take themselves too seriously that I don’t like…. the ones that are trying to be all angsty, and inject even MORE drama into an already over-dramatic season. And ones that make you feel guilty – like “So This Is Christmas” and “Do They Know It’s Christmas”… that one always made me wonder… why WOULD they know it’s Christmas? I think they’re singing about a part of the world that’s predominantly Muslim, aren’t they? That would be like them singing “Do they know it’s Ramadan?” about us.
Feliz Navidad! It drives me up the wall!
I don’t think I have one! I can’t think of any that I dislike, just as long as they start AFTER Thanksgiving!
Santa Baby and Feliz Navidad are the ones I don’t like. Although I heard someone call Feliz Navidad “The P’lice nabbed my dad” and I laughed.
