I sent most of mine last week. I used to send 50 or more cards and then events in my life changed for a few years so I stopped sending a lot of them. I don’t send too many now. Maybe 30 at the most. I send to siblings, a few cousins, some older aunts and a few close friends and this will sound terrible but I keep an extra few on hand for those who send me one. I have to then hurry and send one to them. Don’t tell anyone I do that. I think some people like to send them and other don’t. Bluntly, if I don’t get one, I usually don’t send one.
Joy ~ I do the same thing with keeping extras on hand in case someone sends one to me. Then they get added to the list for next year.
I send about 25 and right now I’m hoping mine go out by Monday morning.
Today, I just talked to an 84-year-old childless widow who was feeling guilty because nowadays she “only” sends about 125. Used to be about 500 when her husband was alive. Whew! She said that she sends one to everyone in each family, including the kiddies. The kiddies are so excited when they get a card in their own name. What a nice thought. I wish I was that nice a person.
Sending one to kids is a really cool idea. I remember when I’d let the kids open cards, they thought that was neat. Good to know for next year.
I sent mine last week and about 40 went out. I sent another 6 today and have 2 that have no addresses! I’m not naming names but it’s hard to send your sister in-law a card when you don’t have their address!!!
Give it to her Sat Sue. I have your here too. I’m NOT putting yours in the mail.
you never asked for it…joy has it!
I give out well over 100. I have not done it for the last few years though so it felt good to do it again this year. I sent them out a week 1/2 ago? I don’t mind when ppl don’t send one back – stamps are EXPENSIVE! Right?
I have 60 (I think) sitting here, waiting to be sent, but I haven’t done them yet. I should be sending more, but I’m looking at my list and culling names. I come from a HUGE family – my dad is one of 13 kids – and have tons and tons of cousins. So I’m thinking I’m only going to send to those cousins that I have talked with through the year, rather than everyone. I also have lots of friends who are taking the place of those cousins. I’m gonna have writer’s cramp!
SKL, I really like the idea of sending to the kids…. maybe next year, I’ll JUST send to the little ones, and not the big ones. After all, it can be argued that Christmas is for the kids, right?
I think I sent mine out about a week after Thanksgiving. I am down to about a 20 right now. It’s sad my list keeps getting shorter and shorter each year. My family needs to stop dying off!
I write all my cards out in november.By Dec 1st I send the far away ones and then a week later I send the rest.I ususally have around 80.But i included all my co-workers which I hand out. This year I also sent my grandkids there own. They liked opening there own 🙂
I don’t send many but am hoping to send them out tomorrow!!!
I didnt send any this year, somehow I wasnt in the mood.I know Im aweful!I usually send them every year to the friends and family I see/talk to alot anyhow so I thought this year my “cheery” MERRY CHRISTMAS greeting at the gatherings and/or a FaceBook message or phone call will be just as good(I hope)!!??
Hey..This comment made it on!!I tried I think 3 times and it didnt post!WEird..Then I talked to Pam and well…it says it all in my bottom comment!!Weird!
I sent mine out a week or so ago. I handmade about 25 cards for everyone who deserved one! Well, not “everyone” but the ones who’s addresses I had anyway!
I wasnt going to send any this year(ya I know, thats aweful)but I wrote them out today and stuck them(about 15)in the mail upon the “URGING”of my sister Pammy!!:)I do believe she has the holiday cheer a tad more than I do!
