I sent most of mine last week. I used to send 50 or more cards and then events in my life changed for a few years so I stopped sending a lot of them. I don’t send too many now. Maybe 30 at the most. I send to siblings, a few cousins, some older aunts and a few close friends and this will sound terrible but I keep an extra few on hand for those who send me one. I have to then hurry and send one to them. Don’t tell anyone I do that. I think some people like to send them and other don’t. Bluntly, if I don’t get one, I usually don’t send one.

I send about 25 and right now I’m hoping mine go out by Monday morning.

Today, I just talked to an 84-year-old childless widow who was feeling guilty because nowadays she “only” sends about 125. Used to be about 500 when her husband was alive. Whew! She said that she sends one to everyone in each family, including the kiddies. The kiddies are so excited when they get a card in their own name. What a nice thought. I wish I was that nice a person.

Sending one to kids is a really cool idea. I remember when I’d let the kids open cards, they thought that was neat. Good to know for next year.

I sent mine last week and about 40 went out. I sent another 6 today and have 2 that have no addresses! I’m not naming names but it’s hard to send your sister in-law a card when you don’t have their address!!!

I give out well over 100. I have not done it for the last few years though so it felt good to do it again this year. I sent them out a week 1/2 ago? I don’t mind when ppl don’t send one back – stamps are EXPENSIVE! Right?

  5. Laura says:

I have 60 (I think) sitting here, waiting to be sent, but I haven’t done them yet. I should be sending more, but I’m looking at my list and culling names. I come from a HUGE family – my dad is one of 13 kids – and have tons and tons of cousins. So I’m thinking I’m only going to send to those cousins that I have talked with through the year, rather than everyone. I also have lots of friends who are taking the place of those cousins. I’m gonna have writer’s cramp!

SKL, I really like the idea of sending to the kids…. maybe next year, I’ll JUST send to the little ones, and not the big ones. After all, it can be argued that Christmas is for the kids, right?

I think I sent mine out about a week after Thanksgiving. I am down to about a 20 right now. It’s sad my list keeps getting shorter and shorter each year. My family needs to stop dying off!
