Question of the day

I know I’ll come back and add more but right now I think I’ll say my Pampered Chef chopper. I don’t really use it all that much but when I need things small, it’s the only way to go.
I also couldn’t live without my vegetable/potato peeler. I know a lot of people who don’t use them but I waste way to much of what I’m peeling if I use a knife.
I really do love my microwave.
Only one. My water boiler.
OK, two. My apple cutter upper.
Well if the ice maker is considered a gadget that is mine.
Funny thing is I just bought the Mrs. a new blender. Our old one was still working fine. It was a little noisy but that could be because we got it as a wedding gift in May 1974. lol
My current favorite is the Crock Pot, but that’s only because I have a wicked busy day today, and dinner is now made.
I got one of those vacuum-sucker-thingies (Food Saver) for my birthday, and I spent an hour yesterday playing with it, giggling the whole time.
But for overall usefulness, and something I couldn’t live without (and not including the ovens, fridge and dishwasher), I would have to say that my stand mixer and my food processor tie. The stand mixer not only mixes (and I bake, a lot), but it has a meat grinder attachment, which I use all the time to make ground chicken and ground sirloin (buy in bulk, grind, freeze). And the food processor is great for shredding cheese and making guacamole.
I’ve been using “crock pots” more lately too Laura. I like how they are different than the old ones and you can turn the heat up higher and it doesn’t take 12 hours to cook a roast. I just love the “hotter” ones and have one in about every size you can imagine. I used them all the time. I like how tender the meat gets.
My favorite cooking gadget is probably my cast iron grill/gridle that I put over 2 of my gas burners on the stove. I love that thing!
I gotta go with our crock pot as well. I love how tender meat comes out and I like how the flavors fuse together cooking nice and slow.
I don’t have too many…I couldn’t live without my crock pot. It’s old, maybe Joy can tell me how old. It was Jasons grandpas and I got it some years back when he moved. Works great, a little on the smaller side but it reminds me of him (which makes me miss him.)
I also love my pizza oven…we use that a lot! That’s it really. I don’t have any fancy choppers or anything.
My most used kitchen gadget was my plug in skillet….that broke sending my hashbrowns to the floor! 😦 I’ll get a new one as soon as I can! I cooked everything in that!
I love my teapot, for a long time I was just boiling water in a pan, so it is nice to have! I cook all day everyday but I have no gadgets! But no complaints. Old fashioned style cooking over here, so it takes longer. One day I’ll have some gadgets and I’ll be so grateful for them!
I also have to say my tea pot 🙂
The one kitchen gadget I would kill for (not really) is a standing mixer!!!!!
I have always wanted one of those too Nikki.
Like the Kitchen Aide mixers?
ok, never mind my comment! I just read the one below!
Well Nikki, that’s my favorite thing I believe.I LOVE my Kitchen Aid Mixer.I hate mixing dough so its awesome that it does it for me.Plus MANY more uses.I do have to say though that I just got a new set of pricing knives..WOW..what a difference very sharp knives make.I sort of sang today to myself, out loud as I grabbed a knife to cut up a pinnapple ..”I get to use my new knife, lalala”My husband over heard me and thought I was a little off my rocker!LOL!
Oh Karen. That is so funny and SOOOOO something I’d do. I was just missing you on Facebook and wondering where you were. You’ve been to quiet.
LOL!I do things like that often…apparently I am a tad amusing at times.I think its a good quality for us to have!Btw..I meant *pricey* knives..not pricing.
Ive still been on FB,we’ve just been busy…tired.
A favorite one? IDK if I have a favorite. I do love my apple slicer. That thing is sweet 🙂
I bought an apple slicer when we got our apples from DM. But many of the apples we got from him were to BIG for the apple slicer! 🙂
