I heard about this story on The View one morning last week and couldn’t believe it and then I was surfing around and found it again and thought, what the hell. If you haven’t heard about this you can read it and there’s also a video.
I personally find this whole thing horrific. This woman did everything by the book. She’d been trying to get this thing resolved for months. She went and had meetings and set up sexual harassment and bullying workshops and still couldn’t get this thing resolved.
Her daughters sweat pants got pulled down to her ankles in gym class. By a boy who does this EVERYDAY to kids. He sometimes does it to other boys. This little girl kind of squealed and all her friends gathered around her and she got her pants pulled back up.
Nothing was done about it. So she gathered up a group of supporters and went to a school board meeting. At this meeting, the school superintendent asked her if her daughter had been wearing a thong. He said he had to know what body parts were exposed. Can you even believe that? So the mother lost it and cursed the guy out. I can honestly tell you that I may have done the same thing. What does it matter what she had on under her sweats? Boxer shorts, long johns or granny panties. It makes no difference. You don’t lay your hands on other people NOR do you pull down their pants. It had gone on for a LONG TIME.
Now this mother faces disorderly conduct and could pay a hefty fine. Do you think this is right? I know life isn’t fair so I won’t say I think it’s unfair but man, I can’t stand bullying and by asking that question, it makes it appear that this little girl somehow asked for it “if” she had been wearing a thong.
It doesn’t matter and I can’t even BELIEVE this guy still has a job. Find a lawyer lady b/c you need to take this all the way!
Talk about a trumped-up charge! What a wuss that principal must be!
I know how it feels to be angered to the point of almost losing it. I probably wouldn’t have cussed – that’s something I almost never do in public – but I could see my head blacking out in rage at that sort of question from a school official.
I wonder if there is any charge she could launch against that pervert for inquiring into the underclothes of one of his minor students? What a pig.
But what I really want to know is what did they do to the boy who did this? Did he get any sort of punishment at all? Were there progressive consequences for repeated offenses? I would hope he has been at least suspended for such outrageous behavior. Isn’t that also some kind of crime? Has he been criminally charged? I think if this happened to my kid, I’d rather the police deal with it than screw around with a bullying seminar with a bunch of namby-pamby panty-waists (no pun intended!).
Don’t quote me because I’m not sure where I read this. I did so much checking on it and I’d link it but I honestly don’t remember where I saw it but he got some kind of suspension or something. He was punished “kind of” I guess you could say. Not enough in my opinion.
Wow. That is sad. I hope she fights that all the way too, like Sue said. I would curse him out too if that is how it happened! She needs to protect her daughter and do what is right.
Oh. My. God. This is absolutely RIDICULOUS!!! Paying a fine for getting angry at a principal asking a completely inappropriate question?!?! What mother WOULDN’T flip out and yell at whoever asked this question?!
I love how the school officials say that “the meeting wasn’t the place for Schwalb to express her concerns.” Really? Where should she have expressed her concerns? Especially since she’d already “expressed” them everywhere else, and got no satisfaction.
What I’m seeing here, and with so many other situations, is that the school leadership – if you can call it that – has become, on one hand, so drunk on their own power, and on the other hand, absolutely cowed by political correctness. The two, it would seem, are mutually exclusive, but apparently not.
Principals and school boards across the country have gotten so used to being able to do just what they want with no consequences. They hide behind “zero tolerance” policies and behavior like the one in this story, and when anyone defies them, they bring in reinforcements. Often, their poor behavior, their lack of common sense, and their cowardice holds a bright student’s future in the balance, i.e., that hs student who was bound for West Point, and got busted for having a pocketknife in his car’s first aid kit.
I completely and utterly agree with what this mother did. I also think that it’s up to us to educate ourselves and others, and STOP giving so much power to the boards and principals of our schools. They are there for one reason – to provide an education to the students. Within that framework should exist reasonable disciplinary boundaries.
This principal should be the one on trial, not that mother.
I’m afraid this wouldn’t have gone on but one time with one of my daughters. I would have gone right over to the boys house and been arrested for a real crime!
Lol Mssc54!
This whole story is maddening. The focus should be on the little pervert boy who is pulling people’s pants down. I find myself wondering what kind of family life he has. It does not matter one iota what the girl had on underneath her sweats. The boy should not have been laying one finger on her!
Wow I think I would have been brought up on more charges than that! That’s right up there with asking what a rape victim was wearing at the time! Crap like that really ticks me off!
Wow…I don’t even know what to say! I second what Sue says though…fight that to the end. I would have flipped the F**CK out!
This is RIDICULOUS! Things like this just didn’t happen when I was a kid. Sure, depantsing happened but I mean the diroderly conduct. Are you friggin kidding me? My dad would have went to prison when I was a kid had this kind of crap when on when I was a kid.
If someone would have done that to my little sister, my dad would have spoken to the kid, the kids parents, the school board and the principal. One false move by any of them and my dad would have flipped the f**k out on their asses.
When I was in grade school we had some sort of program going on in the gym. We were told to sit down but I was too busy looking to see what was going on up on the stage. My principal came over and wacked me on the side of my head and my ear hurt for about two hours. I told my dad about it that night and he said not to worry about it.
The next day I’m sitting in class and I see my dad walk in with my principal following. My dad asked me to come down to the office and I did. When I got there, my dad knelt down and told me to hit him in the side of the head as hard as my principal had wacked me the day before. I hit my dad as hard as I thought my principal did. No more and no less. My dad told me to go back to class.
I started walking back to class and turned and looked over my shoulder when I got into the hallway. I saw my dad holding onto my principals tie while pointing his finger in his face and my principal was laying across his desk.
Now I’m not saying that should go on but come on. We have turned into a bunch of sue happy BABIES! My principal did NOTHING because he KNEW he had done wrong. That was it…the end of it. He let my dad vent and that was the end of it.
My point is this…..if you do or say something stupid then don’t be surprised when you get what you have coming too you and don’t bitch and cry like a baby about it. Buck up buttercups!
A kid kept doing this in my sons school he was suspended and told he’d be arrested if he did it again. He was 7 … They don’t take that kindly here.. I think its ridiculous this lady is being charged like that
I cannot believe it either! This woman must have felt so upset. She needs a lawyer for sure, to get this to the bottom and the principal should be send away. This question, if the daughter was wearing a tong? This is sexual harassment. He has sick thoughts. This boy, who did it, will need medical treatment, doing this to girls frequently, shows he is mentally pretty unstable. Thanks for sharing this story with us, Joy.
I hadn’t heard of this story, and feel terrible for the little girl and her mother.
We had this problem when I was in elementary school. The boys would *pants* the girls, so we’d hide in the bathroom. I was relieved when my parents moved us out of state.
We had that problem, too. Boy “pantsed” me once. Only once. He limped for about a week after that, and never messed with me again.
Today? I’d be in juvie if I defended myself like that. The world is a sick, sick place.
This is so sad. If that happened to my child, I know I would be in the same shoes as her if the school did not respond. i hope when all is resolved, mama bear comes out on top.
