Crayons. I love the way they smell.

  2. SKL says:

Ah, the smell of crayons brings back the memory of getting ready for school as a kid – it was always so much fun, for the first week . . . .

I like the smell of pipe tobacco. It is pretty rare nowadays, and I know that’s a good thing, but still . . . .

This is maybe indeed weird, but I love the smell of manure. I love it! It makes me feel I am on vacation. I want to breath deep then, as if the air is healthy. When I was little, my family went on vacation into the country. I do relate that smell to the vacations I had with my family.

I can’t believe you didn’t say gas, Joy! I love the way sawdust smells. Hmmm, makes me think of my dad’s shop. Oh, and tractors. Not the farm tractors from now, but the old tractors that you see at shows. When all those tractors are running together their engines give off a great smell!

    I have a couple others…

Outboard motor gas smell. It brings back memories of childhood vacations to Northern Wisconsin with my folks.

    The “frito” smell of a dog’s foot-pads.

  6. Vicki says:

I like the smell of leather

  7. Lucy says:

freshly cut grass… or rain on hot concrete 🙂

  8. Nikki says:

I can’t think of anything unusual. I have this thing I do while I’m putting laundry away. I smell it often. I’d say probably every 5th or so garment, I smell! I just like the scent of clean laundry. Jason gives me the “you are completely insane” look often.

  9. Tessa says:

I agree with cut grass, manure, and crayons!! Also, outside dust and new plastic for some reason, like an inflatable mattress or something. Oh, and a fire burning! Love that smell. Brings everyone back to campfires growing up. Campfires are always fun memories.

I like the smell of diesel engines it reminds me of the farm in Canada when I was a kid.

  11. TRS says:

Fresh cut grass, band-aids, and fresh diapers.

And the incense at Mass on certain holy days — I’ve always been mystified at the folks who don’t like it.

and ditto on the ‘farm fresh’ smells. The sweet mix that you find inside a horse barn – of manure, hay, saddle leather and general horseyness.

And there’s nothing like breathing in the smell of a horses neck – almost better than babies!
