Absolutely I’m watching the Olympics. It’s very hard for me to pick a favorite winter sport. I love watching almost all of them. I love them way more than the summer ones. If I HAD to only pick one, it would be the ice skating. I love the pairs but also love the singles. But I really like all of them.
Not so far, but I hope to. Favorite (winter): ice skating – singles – especially the girls. Only, I wish they would cover up their butts better. Haven’t seen this year’s costumes yet, but that is one thing that always bothers me.
I have to admit that I find it hard to watch most of the Olympics. I mean, I just can’t get excited about watching people go down the same ski slope a hundred times. Or around the same speed-skating track, etc. Even the finals – to someone who has never dabbled in these sports, there is no difference between many of the contests, so I can only watch a few of them.
I’m totally in love with the figure skating – every element of it. I used to be really good at scoring the skaters, too, until they instituted this new, infernal, system. Drives me nuckin’ futs.
I’m really enjoying all of it. I’ve set up a little table in the basement, in front of the TV, and I’m trying to catch up on some long overdue photo albums, while I keep track of some of the longer events – the cross country, the long speed skating events, the qualifying trials.
I never liked the skiing when I was a kid, but I’m getting a little more into it, now, and I’m *really* diggin the snowboard stuff.
But the skating is my first, and most dear, love.
Except for Johnny Weir. With the costumes???? REALLY???? Dude, you’re making Rudy Galindo look like Arnold Schwarzenegger! Man up, boy! (ok, yeah, that was totally un-called-for. but someone had to say it) Still, great skater. Not as great as Evan, but solid.
Oh Laura! I hear ya about Mr Weir! Ooooooh doggie! What was he wearing last night?!!!
well, it really did accent his girlish figure. I noticed he traded out the dreaded (and PETA-antagonizing) white fox fur, and replaced it with leather!
I’ve been watching…. my favorite has been the snowboard cross and downhill skiing. I have enjoyed the Ice skating too. Oh and I’ve been fascinated with curling!! Such a strange event. Has any one had the chance to watch it?
However, I’m beyond frustrated with NBC. I hate that they do not show anything live. They jump in between different events (sometimes just showing 1 or 2 competitors at a time), for may events they only show the Americans and maybe a few other top contenders, (for instance they skipped most of the snowboarder cross heats) and for some events they show WAY too much (like in the luge they showed up to rank 60!!!).
I love curling Lucy and I did it one year during the winter. On a league and it’s really fun.
I agree with the jumping in at goofy times. Last night we were watching something and all of a sudden they were handing out medals and we didn’t even know who the people were or what sport it was. Talk about confusing.
I love figure Skating 🙂 I always wanted to be like them 🙂
I love all sports. I first was plan only to watch the speed ice skating. But I have been falling in love with all of them. Even Biathlon. That, to me was the most boring one.
I agree totally with Lucy. What a weird way NBC broadcasts the Olympics. They promise to broadcast a sport, and you wait and wait, because they do not tell you what time it will be on the air, and then they say: Sorry, no time left. Watch our evening show. And then, they do not broadcast it either!!
I like the Bobsledding. Speed skating Bailey and I watched and it was cool to see Apolo Anton Ohno win the silver. We don’t get into it though like a lot of people do. I do like it, we just don’t watch a lot of it. Right now we’re hooked on American Idol. There are shows that are on at the same time and it just hasn’t worked out. I do watch the Summer Olympics more.
I love to watch skiing or snowboarding, figure skating is neat, so is bobsledding!
I like the winter Olympics, but do like the summer ones more. I’ve enjoyed the speed skating, figure skating and the different skiing events. Yesterday I couldn’t tear myself away from the womens biathlon finals! It was exciting! I can’t imagine skiing like that and then stopping to shoot at a tiny target! I’d drop after one round!
Ellen and Lucy… you know I never really noticed the coverage thing… until you mentioned it!!! Maybe it’s because I grew up watching it, and this is the way it’s always been – the jumping around thing. Guess I’m used to it. Sad, isn’t it?
I do know that one night this week, they had to do some serious scrambling, because they planned to show some of the speed skating and there was a problem with the ice. And on top of that, there was weather trouble and some of the skiing or snowboarding (not sure which) events had to either be canceled or postponed. I think that was the night with the really heavy luge coverage, actually – I think that’s all they had to fill in with.
I like the skiing and snowboarding the most. I prefer the Summer games myself. I don’t like the way they have split the Olympics the way they have. I enjoyed it a whole lot more when they were every 4 years together.
nope. Haven’t watched it all.
