I tend to like books that go on for many generations. I do also like light spy stories. Of course I LOVE romance too. I’m not keen on magic or wizardry or any of those kinds of books though. Believe this or not but I haven’t seen or read one Harry Potter book or movie or any of the vampire stuff that’s so popular now.

    Romantic classics.

(You might be surprised by Harry Potter. I would not have thought it was my kind of book either, but I really enjoyed them; I finished each in 1-3 days. I’m not like some people who have read them over and over, but I do look forward to sharing them with my kids. And if she ever comes out with another one, I’ll read that as soon as I can.)

I’ve heard that before. That I may like those books but I’ve just never looked at one. I will next time I go to a bookstore.

Bailey is almost done with the 2nd Harry Potter, he really likes it! He didn’t get into it when it was all the rave, maybe he was too young. Every night before I head to bed, I check on him, tuck him back in and put his book away. He always falls asleep reading. Not that he’s supposed to be reading, when it’s bed time. But how do you get mad at that!?

I like thrillers, suspense, mystery, love stories and anything that keeps my attention in the first couple chapters. I hate when things start slow and you keep reading “just in case” it gets good and it never does and then you wonder why you wasted all that time!

    • Joy says:

I agree. I need a book to hold my attention right away. I’ll give it time but not as much as I used to. I never used to quit reading a book but I recently didn’t finish 3 books in a row.

  4. Ellen says:

I am with Sue, all kind of books. It needs to have that special thing that kept me reading!

At the moment I’m reading Steve Harvey’s book, I like humour in a book.

  6. Nikki says:

Something that will hold my attention. I really enjoy reading about true crimes, and autobiographies. Amy Fishers, the Long Island Lolita, autobiography was pretty interesting. I also like feel good books, take a romantic comedy and put in a book and chances are I’ll like it.

  7. Just a Mom says:

I like science fiction or books that are history driven.

I love historical fiction and biographies. I also like suspenseful detective stuff. I am not a Harry Potter fan. (tried to read it unsuccessfully) I also read the first page of each book I check out, because if it doesn’t catch me in the first paragraph, I don’t read it.
