    This happens to me all the time. I must be a very fickle person. I’m going with guitar hero. I played that game so much my fingers had dents in them. I used to be terrible addicted to the Mario games on the old Nintendo systems.

    Mountain Dew. I can’t believe I’m even writing that, but it’s true. I used to go through four or six cans a day, without even thinking about it. Now, I don’t even have it in the house. Mostly, I drink water. Occasionally, I’ll go back to Dew, but not much.

    I really like when Pepsi rolls out the ‘Throwback’ Dew. I discovered that with that formulation, I CAN stop at one can. With the modern-day stuff? I can’t. If I drink one can, I’m looking for more and more. it’s weird.

    I too have gone through stages in my life when I had to have a particular junk food every single day. In fact, one summer when I was about 10, I used to eat a can of pork&beans – cold – every day – until one day I just didn’t want to ever see a can of those again (and wouldn’t you know it, that week my dad brought home a whole pile of them just for me. Dad, you rock, I suck.)

    So I won’t list all of the stuff but you get the idea. When I was around 13, I was addicted to Pac-Man which cost 25c per game. No wonder I was always behind on my paper route bills. (I did get a lot of free games since I was consistently the top scorer.) One day I got sick of wasting my quarters and that was that. I have also been addicted to minesweeper and various solitaire games – severely but temporarily.

    Junk food in grad school – I used to eat a ton of it every day, and then one day I never wanted to eat another bite. I lost nearly 20 lbs shortly thereafter, without changing anything else. (Ah, those were the days.)

    Internet sites – some of them seem so cool but eventually they get old. (This one never does, though.)

    Late-night cop show reruns.

    There are some good habits I’ve had and dropped too, but I don’t know if I’d call them addictions. I used to be really good about doing certain things every day – yoga, reading spiritual stuff, studying languages, eating fruits and veggies, and a few other things. It was all too easy to drop those habits once I became a mom. Had I not been addicted to the internet at that point, I probably would have kept up some of the good habits.

    cigarettes… I used to smoke about a pack a day for 3-4 years…and then quit cold turkey. Now… I’m that person who rolls my eyes and scrunches my nose when some “inconsiderate” person smokes next to me.

    Cigarettes! Yeah other things but I wont mention. :+) LOL Cigarettes was actually the most difficult to quit.

    I didn’t even think of cigarettes. I still miss them and want one often. I wonder when that will stop. I smoked for almost 35 years.

    Probably cigarettes. I quite more than 5 years ago and it’s the best thing I EVER did. My son asked me to, and I never lit another one up. It wasn’t hard for me either, probably because I was never a real smoker to begin with. A few a day, unless I was drinking them more.

    Other than smoking, I’d go with candy. I used to have to have it every single day, especially when I was pregnant. My sugar levels were sky high and I had to put the candy down! Now I have it every once in a while, if it’s in the house I eat it! Generally it’s not even allowed in this house. I dread Easter, Halloween, any candy holiday! I have thee sweetest tooth ever!

    Cigarettes.I smoked for 12 years and its been about 13 years since I quit.I am SOOOO happy to be free from that addiction!

    Hey, I haven’t been around wordpress in a while, but just decided to pop in! Hey, Joy, you are doing SOOO great with not smoking! That is a huge accomplishment! I hope you are very proud of it. 🙂

    I was addicted to dieting, then alcohol. I’ve been in recovery now for over three years. I think that addiction to food is probably the most common, and what people don’t often acknowledge as a true addiction. Sugar, carbs, HFCS, that sort of thing. The SAD = Standard American Diet is very addictive.
