Question of the day

Mens erger je niet, Hotel, and Ganzebord. Sorry we only have Dutch bordgames in the Netherlands 🙂 I did not fall for Monopoly that much.
I used to like Clue. I also used to like Parcheesi (sp?) but something happened to the game when I was still little, so I haven’t played it in at least 30 years. I always liked Life a lot better than Monopoly. Monopoly is just mean!
As an adult, I really haven’t played board games. I am thinking it will soon be time to start playing them with my kids. I remember that was a really fun family activity when I was little.
I posed this question to the family, and Josh piped up right away with Monopoly. We just recently started him on real Monopoly (instead of M, Jr., which melts my brain), so it’s a big challenge for him. He also usually gets to be the banker.
Steve says that his is “Risk”, even though he hasn’t played in years. He says it makes Monopoly seem like a quick little game. Don’t think I’m ever going to be playing Risk…
I like games where you can do goofy things… We have a kid’s game here called, “You Gotta Be Kidding”, which I really enjoy, and Josh gave me “Quelf” for Christmas, which is just complete and utter nonsense, and a whole lotta fun, when you’re playing with people who are willing to be silly in public.
I also like playing some of the kid’s classics with Josh… Connect 4, Mousetrap, Checkers…
I love Risk Laura. I can remember playing it for hours. I haven’t played in years either. Tell Steve he’s on! You really have to think and strategize with this game.
I love Monopoly! I have fond memories playing that game! I also like the classics that Laura listed, Connect Four, checkers, candy land!
My siblings used to gang up in Monopoly, defeat those who wouldn’t partner, and then kill their partners. Every game, they’d suggest a partnership and I’d say, no way, knowing the ultimate goal, but the others would do it, so I’d end up being killed first (usually), and then I’d watch them kill and eat each other. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Oh, I should mention that I really liked Master Mind. Does that count as a board game?
I don’t know that I have a favorite. We played a lot of Chinese Checkers, which was always fun, and Mystery Mansion. As a little kid I loved Chutes and Ladders. I like Monopoly but it takes forever so I usually bow out before I’m out of money.
I like many Monopoly and Clue. i’m sure there are several other one’s since I love playing games. I just can’t remember them.
