I have always been proud of my voting record, saying I never once missed voting in the general election since age 18. However, I can’t say that any more. I have to confess that after I brought my kids home in October of 2007, I was so exhausted, sick, and basically in shock – I actually forgot about voting day. I remembered around 6pm so I still could have technically made it. But the weather was crappy, my two non-walking kids and I were sick (this was before I had child care so they had to go everywhere with me and just getting them in & out of the car was an ordeal even without the rain), and I just couldn’t bring myself to do it for an 0dd-year election when there was nothing on the ballot that I was that interested in anyway.

    I always vote.

Since I have been of age to vote, I vote. In my opinion you only have the right to bitch if you vote!

I think I’ve only missed one “major” election – a senatorial one – because we were in the process of moving and I forgot to do the ‘absentee ballot’ thing. But I would only have been able to vote in the district that I was moving out of, and I wasn’t eligible to vote in my new district (because of residency rules), so I suppose, at that point, it was kind of moot.
