Jeez, this is a good question. I think at home. Although I also like to interact with colleagues. But ultimately, I would like to work from home, and go to the office once a week.

I’ve never had a job where I worked from home and the office job I had I was not sad to leave! I’m very glad I don’t have a cubicle anymore 🙂

I prefer working at home. The comforts of home cannot be duplicated in an office. I like my instant coffee with milk, sitting in my backyard to eat or take a break, choosing from a variety of healthy, inexpensive food, and yes, being able to sneak a little horizontal rest once in a great while. I like using natural light and having the windows open when I work. Dressing for comfort, skipping the commute, being able to grab the mail or throw in a load of laundry between conference calls. Having fewer tasks to complete in the “morning rush.” Getting up a little later as a result. There are a few drawbacks, but I really prefer working at home.

I’m glad I work at an office. I do massages so I wouldn’t want strange people that I don’t know coming to my house.

Okay, what sort of massages do you do? Is there really any benefit to those heated rocks? And the big question… how many guys ask for a “happy ending?”

      • Jenny says:

I do relaxation, deep tissue & hot stone massages. The hot stones are good for the muscles. The heat feels amazing. As far as the “happy ending” goes that has never happened. It’s a very small town! And if it did I would probably kick them off the table! and punch them in the face 😀

Many years ago, I had what I consider the “perfect” job. We kept space (a cubicle) in a central office, but were not expected to hold office hours, unless we set them. We were able to choose for ourselves whether to work at home, at the office, or in the field (we worked with a lot of volunteers and kids). We were expected to be in the office one day a week – usually Friday morning – for a staff meeting, where we all touched base, got support or ridicule where appropriate, and ended up all going out to lunch together. For me, this situation is the best. I find that if I try to work completely from home, there are so many things that need doing around here that I get distracted from the work I’m supposed to do. And I get claustrophobic if stuck in an office all the time.

I do, however, miss the camaraderie and interaction that goes with working out of the home. And dressing nice. I really miss dressing nice.

Wow Laura that does sound like the ideal working environment. I think I could handle anyone who was a jerk (in the office) for half a day. lol

      • Laura says:

It was a “dream job”… of course, it came with it’s pressure times, and parts of it that I just HATED… like fundraising, but it was wonderful. I worked for the Boy Scouts as a District Executive for three years. Lots of awesome volunteers, lots of really great kids, campouts, just enough business to keep my brains busy and satisfy my penchant for dressing up. It was very much a “boy’s club”, which I had to earn my way into, but once I was in, I was IN. (probably because I insisted on earning my way in, rather than forcing my way in)

I’ve done both and much prefer working from home. It is much more enjoyable since I downsized the business and don’t have a bunch of personalities to deal with everyday! 🙂

I like being home. I like the stress free atmosphere, no irritating people I have to deal with. I can eat when I want, do what I want. Go to the beach, have a movie day with the kids. I like it. Sometimes I go through a phase where I’m like, “I need more in my life.” But then I take a good hard look at my life and it’s a good one!

At home I guess it depends on the work. Some work I would say would be better done in an office. I like working at home for the most part.
