We us Aquafresh. I used Colgate as a kid and I think I buy Crest for my kids! Whichever one tastes the best!

Dang!! This question was on my list!

Anyway, I really like Tom’s of Maine, but sometimes I switch off when they don’t have a flavor I like in stock… the managers at our store like to mess with my head, I guess. Right now I’m using Crest 3D or something like that. It’s supposed to make your teeth whiter than white!… of course, I bought it because I had a 2-for-1 coupon.

    I am a Toms girl.

  4. Ellen says:

I never heard of Tom’s of Maine toothpaste. Will look for them now 🙂 We mostly use Crest, and indeed the 2 for 1 package 🙂

    • Laura says:

The nice thing about Tom’s (besides it being all natural and all that stuff) is that the tube is a metal one. So you can actually roll it up, like we did when we were kids!! And then you can recycle it.

I do tend to mix it up with other toothpastes, though, because Tom’s doesn’t have fluoride in it, and we’re rural, so our water isn’t fluoridated, either.

I also use one of those fluoride rinses… I don’t know the brand, ’cause we call it “swish n’ spit” in our house.

      • SKL says:

Tom’s has a flouride rinse. But it is so strong, it is almost painful to use. I use it, but not every day. I also use Tom’s deodorant nowadays (is that TMI?).

I discovered Tom’s years ago when I stayed in a motel in Maine on vacation. There was a free sample there, and I was hooked.

      • SKL says:

Oh, and I didn’t know Tom’s didn’t have flouride. Hmm. I guess I just assumed they all do. But, we do have it in our water.

        • Laura says:

Maybe it was just the variety that I got that didn’t have fluoride, or maybe they’ve started putting it in.

And yeah, I use whatever swish n’ spit is on the market that doesn’t have alcohol in it. They make that kind for kids – it’s bubble gum flavor – that Josh uses, and they make an adult version for adults that’s minty, but not painful. I think it’s “Act”, but I’m not sure.

  5. Jenny says:

We buy like the cheapest stuff out there… AIM. For Hunter he uses the Orajel training toothpaste-but it has to be the one that has Thomas the Train on it!! (Of course)

    • Joy says:

      Well of course!

      • SKL says:

I bought the Thomas one for my kids to keep at Grandma & Grandpa’s (forgot our usual from home). One of them does not like the taste. Not that I let that stop me. It’s that or Pepsodent, you spoiled little brat!

    • Laura says:

Of COURSE!!! I used to have to drive to the Big City (almost an hour away) when Josh was running out of toothpaste, just to get the Thomas stuff!! Then it was Cars for a long time. Now, he’s starting to like the Crest in the stand-up tube, which I can find at my local Wal-mart, so color me happy.

  6. Joy says:

All you people who use Tom’s of Maine, what kind do you buy and is online the only way to buy it?

    • SKL says:

I think I’ve seen it at Wal-Mart but I usually buy it at my hippie grocery store.

I usually buy whatever kind claims to “do it all,” i.e., whiten, fight cavities, bla bla bla.

      • Joy says:

Okay, thanks. I’m going to check it out. Paul hates change but I’d like to try it. I’d also like to try the deodorant. Without getting “into” it, they quit making what I used to like so I’ve been trying to find a new one but all those stupid “coconut, cherry, vanilla” scents make me want to scream and they irritate my skin so I need to find something else.

    • Laura says:

I know that my Wal-mart carries it… they have several varieties, in various flavors. Some of the flavors are weird, like “orange-clove” (or something like that, whatever it was, it was gakky to me). They also have cinnamon, I think, and then Spearmint and another mint variety. You just have to check. It’s starting to gain a decent following, so check the chain stores – WM, Target, Kroger/Dominicks/Jewel/Albertsons/HyVee/Your Big Grocery Store of Choice. Also, check whatever stores near you carry “holistic” or natural or organic products. That’s where you’ll find it.

When I find it at my Wal-mart, I’ve found it on the top shelf, all the way to one side of the toothpaste display. It’s a small selection, and they don’t have the good shelf spots yet. Usually I find it above the dental floss and other pick-y kind of tools.

  7. Nikki says:

We almost always use Crest, for the last 3-4 times buying toothpaste we have been getting the Crest 3D. I think it works! Growing up I remember using the Aquafresh in the standing push tube.

I use some over priced organic stuff from the health food store.
