Did you notice it??

Laura had a big family wedding this weekend so I’m putting in this post instead of the Pull Up Monday. Think of this post as the same. Share, vent, converse, but be kind to each other.

My husband really cracks me up sometimes. Sometimes NOT but sometimes YES. Two weeks ago he started to cut the grass and when he went to make his second pass, he realized the blades were set to low. So he raised them and went on his merry way. I looked out the window and thought OMG!!!! It was like someone ruined my haircut. There’s nothing I love more than looking out at our nice yard. I didn’t have the heart to be mad. I wanted to be because COME ON!! This looks horrible but I know he didn’t do it on purpose but then he said this to me

“DID YOU NOTICE WHAT HAPPENED?”

I told him I didn’t notice anything. Then cracked up.

This would have brought me to tears years ago and it did this time too but we were laughing. HARD! I know grass, like hair, will grow back and man, we REALLY got a huge laugh out of it.

Do you have a funny story to share? A dumb thing you did or your significant other???

Funny pictures. It’s so nice to laugh and to have a good laugh with the ones you love theres nothing better. :+) Navars always making me laugh. I like to make up origianl jokes just for Navar. He seems to like that it helps to soften the rest of the rough edges in life. I’m so greatful for humor.

I am sure I’ve had thousands of moments like that, but right now I’m not in a mindset where I can think of them to write them down. Generally any time something crazy happens – something goes flying unexpectedly or whatever – it gives us a good laugh. I’m glad to say that my kids are to the age now when they can also laugh heartily at themselves. It is a blessing.

So for the “pull up a chair” stuff. Only a couple of new things lately. I decided to take the kids swimming on Thursdays since they have “sprinkler day” at school and have their bathing suits out anyway. Last week we tried to go to the pool at our favorite park, in the town where their school is. No dice. You have to be a resident. So we went to the one at the rec center where they take lessons (in our town). It was $5 per person – $15 for the three of us. Is it just me or is that a lot of money? Since it’s an indoor pool, it seems like something we could do all winter, so I think I will buy one of their overpriced memberships. I am just not looking forward to another long winter of sitting at home most evenings – especially now that our house is all but converted to an office.

I know last week I was complaining about how bratty my kids were becoming. Well, this past week has gone a lot better. Now that I’ve said that, I am sure they will switch again and be difficult this week.

That’s about it for now. We’re pretty mellow over here nowadays. Just trying to soak up what’s left of summer and keep up with work. This coming week, I want to do a little re-organizing in my kids’ room to make room for their ever-multiplying book supply, and bring back the stuff that was shoved in the basement when Mr. VIP came for a visit months ago. Let’s see if it happens.

Hope everyone has a pleasant and productive week!

I think for a one time swim that $5 a person is outrages. Sorry I didn’t comment sooner. I didn’t see that part.

Yeah, I know times change, but that felt like a lot of money – and no discount for kids. I had to raid all my secret stashes because I don’t always have that much cash on me. I just didn’t want to disappoint my kids after promising we would swim.

The “family membership” is $375. I guess if we really use it, it will be worth it.

I told my girls today and E was all excited, “Mama is going to buy a Membership!” like it was a year-round pass to Disney World or something. I wonder what she really thinks a “membership” is? Oh my gosh, I hope she doesn’t think it’s some kind of big boat . . . .

You called it like hair. I actually did do Dan’s hair one time. He said, you used the last time comb “3” on the machine, didn’t you? I said, not sure……..oh well, lets do it, we’ll see. It was military look big time! I had to put my hand on my mouth to not laugh, when i did the first stroke. But then I had to go on. When I was finished and he looked in the mirror, he did not laugh that hard with me 😦 Luckily, as you said so too, it grows back πŸ™‚

Joy you do still have a beautiful yard πŸ™‚ I love your deck πŸ™‚
And like hair it grows back again and again πŸ™‚
Things when we were younger dont bother us as much when we get older.

  11. Nikki says:

OMG that is freakin hilarious!!!! Now the kids have a path to ride their bikes!!!! I still love your yard, land…all of it. I wish I had it! πŸ™‚

Our weekend was busy! Saturday Bailey went to a sleepover, that was a total success! He had a blast! It was his first, I think I was more nervous than he was. But we all did fine. πŸ˜‰
Once we dropped him off at the sleepover, we went out to the cabin to celebrate Jason’s grandmas birthday (Joy’s mom) had some very good food, visited for awhile then we took G-ma home. We didn’t know what to do with out night alone, we never get that! We could have gone out, but we decided to head home and we watched a movie and laid on the couch all night! We even contemplated taking a sneak peak of the Bailey, but we decided it was best to leave him alone! πŸ˜‰

Sunday we had our end of the season baseball party at the beach. We grilled, had a good time chatting with everyone we have come to call friends. We got rained out in the end but that’s okay, it was still a good time.

So now, it’s Monday and back to work for everyone. I am expecting a good friend to have her baby this week, and I can’t wait to meet him! We also have an old friend coming home from Arizona for a visit, so we’re trying to plan a day at the beach Saturday with a group of our friends. Lots to look forward to!!!

  12. I didn’t notice anything wrong!! ;P lol

  13. Karen Joy says:

The funniest thing is that he asked if you noticed. πŸ™‚ Funny story, I’m glad you shared it with the rest of us.

    I love your barn!

  15. antsy1 says:

Hello Joy! My gosh this cracked me up. Maybe he was thinking in his head as he mowed at first that he was harvesting produce for one of his farms :0) That is so funny and good that you laughed because even though I understand why it was probably off-putting to see it at first, it is just grass after all- if you can laugh that stuff off you are way ahead of the game. Nice to be back here, I’m going to go look for the Odette post you were telling me about. I didn’t forget, just been very busy. Love you!

  16. mssc54 says:

    About the grass…

I think perhaps Paul has seen those really, super cool black kids with their unique hair cuts and he was secretely trying it on the lawn. I know Paul, it looks easy when other people do it. Right?

    Now for the joke:

WHERE DOES A PINGUIN KEEP HIS MONEY? (I will not post the answer until someone at least guesses) πŸ™‚

  17. Your lawn is looking a little crazy. Has it grown out?

    • Joy says:

Yes. Now it’s back to normal. When my husband saw this post he cracked up and called me an ass hole. Only in the nicest way of course though.
