I don’t really read any grown up books! Do kids books count? Cause those I read a ton of, over & over! I guess I would have to say parenting ones are the only grown up ones that I have read more than once.
I have several series’ by Nora Roberts that I read and re-read, regularly. Let’s see, there are the two Irish trilogies – the “Born in” series, and the “Jewels” series; the “Dream” series, set in Monterrey, CA; and her “Sea Swept” series, set in Chesapeake Bay.
I also re-read the Harry Potter series – I re-read it each time a new installment came out, and now, each time a new movie is released. Does HP count as a “grown-up” book? It should… it’s really well written.
I think I’m going to be re-reading “Eat, Pray, Love” again, too. That book really touched me.
Oh, yeah, and the entire set of Calvin and Hobbes books. I consider those REQUIRED reading for the parent of a six-year-old boy.

This is totally unrelated to your comment, but I was wondering what you think about the Brad Thor book you are reading currently or Brad thor in general.
LOVE him!!! Love, love, love him. He’s almost as good as Vince Flynn.
Although I must add a caveat… the last novel he wrote, right before his current novel, which I’m reading right now (wait, this is getting confusing. Stand by while I go look up what I’m talking about…)
Let me try this again. His last novel, “The Apostle”, was a little bit disappointing. He started out so good, and I really expected him to go much farther than he actually did with the plot. I felt that it wasn’t up to the usual high standard that I’m used to from him.
I’m halfway through his latest, “Foreign Influence” right now, and I’m liking it. I really like that he can weave in a little sarcasm and humor along with the up-to-date political stuff that’s going on. His books are very current and timely.
As I mentioned, I also absolutely love Vince Flynn. He’s even more edgy than Thor is, although they have similar writing styles.
I highly recommend both authors.
I don’t have any specific ones. I don’t know that I’ve read a book twice to tell ya the truth!
I would highly recommend the book Joy is reading right now though! It was a great book and I will be looking for others by this author.
I read the books of Kinsella several times, but Jean Auel, Teh clan of the cave bear series has been my all time favorite.
I am not really sure, but the Bible is one I’ve read several times at least. I have also repeatedly read other holy books that are much shorter than the Bible, so I might have read some of those more times. Possibly Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and/or Pride and Prejudice are in the running, though my last reading of those was decades ago.
I don’t usually read books over I guess which is strange because I keep books thinking I will reread them some day. Strange.
I’ve read most of Derek Prince’s books. Some of them I’ve read more than once.
I don’t read very many books over again. I did reread all Danielle Steele novels after 20 years and I couldn’t remember most of the plots so it was like reading them all over again. When you read as many books as I do, they do get mixed up in your head.
Most of Stephen King’s novels I’d never reread. How can you forget those??? The Shining is on my list though for this winter. In the Braingle that Sunday, I forgot a lot of things about that book and a lot of the memory I have of it is from the movie so I just want to read it again.
I’ve read Gone With The Wind and To Kill A Mockingbird twice.
The only books I reread with any frequency are The Bridges Of Madison County and Drowning Ruth. These are two of my favorite books of all time. Drowning Ruth is a wonderful book and I HIGHLY recommend it if you haven’t read it.
The other books I love to reread are the VC Andrew’s series’s. There are so many of them and I know they are trashy and mostly dumb but I get a kick out of the twists and turns in the books. I reread them every few years mostly in the summer. I like fluff books in the summer and tend to like the “generation” novels for the winter.
This is a good question, by the way… I’ve talked to a LOT of people who tell me they couldn’t possibly re-read a book. They’ve already read it, why would they read it again? They already know the plot.
And then they pull out their favorite DVD to watch for the 322nd time….
I’ve never read a book twice. I need to start another one soon, so I can stop thinking about the one I recently read. I was told to read My Sisters Keeper, and skip the movie entirely so I may pick that one up.
I have that Nikki. Don’t buy it. It was an excellent book. The movie was “okay” but the ending entirely different. The cast was wonderful so that’s why I liked it so much but I liked the book a lot more.
I bawled like a baby reading that book and when Joy told me the ending was different I decided not to see the movie. Maybe someday!
I normally won’t re-read a book. However, one that has a lot of meat in it is worth a re-read after a while, because there is always an angle you probably missed the last time. I could also see re-reading a book maybe 20 years later, because by then, for the most part, I would have forgotten most of it. However, in practice, it rarely happens.
I have a hard enough time reading a book once so I never reread a book. I did read the Stephen King book that Joy just read, “Blockade Billy.” That was a good book!
I no longer have much time for reading. If I do get a chance to read a book I usually pick one I haven’t read before–simply because time is such a premium right now. When I was a kid though, I read and reread the “Little House” books over and over.
I have yet to read a book more than once. But if I was to it would be any of the Vince Flynn Books or The Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell. That series has to be the best I have ever read.
