I’ll wear jeans until they walk themselves to the washer and throw themselves in.
Dishes, I’m a one-timer, except for the “toothbrushing cup” next to the bathroom sink.
Oh, I forgot about my Cup. I have an insulated BEARS mug (made by Aladdin, who made the.best.ever. insulated cups) that gets filled and refilled with ice water as the days go by. I’m constantly drinking out of it, rinsing it, refilling. It doesn’t get in the dishwasher much, but then, like I said, it’s constantly getting rinsed, and it only ever holds water and ice.
I would have to say that I reuse cups if I have only had water in them. I will wear shorts and pants for a couple of days if they are not dirty.
I’m with Laura. I’ll wear clothes unless I spill or they are just plain dirty before I wash them but with dishes, I wash them every time even if I’m the only one to use them. There’s to many flies and bugs around here to leave my dishes out and reuse them. I do get my coffee cup out the night before but I set it on my little napkin with the spoon and my medicine upside down.
This is a really good question.
I’m a re-user. With jeans and “work shirts,” it’s the smell-or-spill test. I only have one set of towels that I use; they get washed every week or two. With dishes, I do rinse them (usually just with water) after each use, except for my coffee mug. I will use my coffee mug all day and sometimes multiple days – until it has a level of coloration that is just too much. I wasn’t always like this, but the older I get, the more I realize – it’s the same difference. I’m constantly sipping my coffee all day (and half the night), so it’s not like it’s sitting around attracting flies.
Sometimes I wish we could go back to the days where everyone had one plate and one cup. Then you had to rinse/wash them right away and you would never have to worry about nasty stuff getting old and smelly (or growing) on your dishes. No need to find space for hundreds of dishes in bursting cupboards or have a whole separate chore of “putting away the dishes.” (Can you tell we have TOO MUCH STUFF in my house??)
I’m a re-user with clothes, but not dishes unless it was just used for water or something. My daughter throws all of her clothes in the laundry even if she wore them for 15 min while playing!!!! Drives me nuts!!!
I wear jeans 2-3 days, then they go into the laundry bin. Same with shirts etc. unless they have a stain on them, then I throw them directly in the laundry bin. My water-glass, I take a clean one in the morning and refill it the whole day and will wash with the evening dishes. Coffee cup I reuse it once. (drink 2 cups of coffee a day). Plates silver-work, I do not reuse.
I could wear my jeans for like a week if they didn’t get dirty. If they have gotten really loose I usually just throw them in the dryer for like 10-15 min. That works great!! Like everyone else I re-use cups only if they’ve had water in them.
I’m allergic to the dryer when it comes to my jeans. I always seem to lose length! It’s never the waistband that gets too tight, but they always end up looking like “floods”.
I feel your pain Laura!
UGH!!! I just discovered that one of my favorite pairs of “lounge around” pants – a pair of t-shirt cotton yoga pants – went into the dryer…
They look like Danny DeVito should be wearing them, they’re so short!!!
Wash clothes after a few wears.Only thing I reuse is a glass, use the same one for water all day then it gets washed end of the day–like everyone else here it sounds.Do people actually re-use dirty dishes?Ive never heard of that..eww!Towels are washed every other day or so.
I agree with everyone on the clothes a few times wearing and toss into the washer. Cups I drink, I wash, I complain. I feel like I’m always washing dishes. :+)
Me too Starla, always doing dishes! Thankfully Jason washes the silverware when I ask him.
I can’t wear pants for more than a day without washing them. I don’t know why, I just can’t do it. Actually any of my clothes, they need to be clean before I put them on. My night time pj pants, I may wear 2 nights in a row.
Cups, the kids use the same one all day. So do I, I rinse and put it on the rack.
