SQUEEEEEE!!!!!!

So.  Monday was a hectic day, but not unmanageable.  I had a bunch of laundry to do, I had to go beat the hardware guy about the head and chest with a rubber hose because my lawn mower part STILL isn’t in, molehills of laundry to turn into mountains, some homework, I’ve got my country’s 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder and Guilder to frame for it; I’m swamped.

So imagine my consternation when I discovered this in my mailbox…

I looked at it a minute, wondering who was sending me what?  The handwriting was unfamiliar, but looked like that of some of my young friends – girls in college.  But what would THEY be sending me?  The envelope was lumpy.  I was confused.

But I was also rushed, so I didn’t spend too much time on the envelope.  The crushing curiosity ended the minute I walked in the house and Josh started his campaign to avoid a shower.  I deftly shoved THAT responsibility onto Steve and booked out the door to a meeting.  When I returned home, I realized that I hadn’t dealt with the mail, and pounced on the mystery envelope.  Grabbing my slicer, I opened it to reveal…

If you can’t read it, it says, “Smile, o’ye office product whore 🙂 ”

And still, I was confused.  Typical state of functioning for me, but still.  This was more confused than normal.

I palpated the package a bit… (oh, shut up, it is NOT dirty!!!), and, still confused, opened the paper to reveal….

I squeeeee’d.  I actually squeaked!!  I was thrilled down to my toes to find this… and knew IMMEDIATELY who the culprit was who sent it.

Our very own ray of sunshine.  Joy.  My Sister in Office Product Whoreness.

Not only was I completely and utterly tipsy over these little clips, the fact that she thought to send them to me made me happy.

And there’s another layer added… and this is just weird, I know, but it’s me…

They’re from Ireland.  Dublin, Ireland.  I know that doesn’t mean much to most people, but for me, well… Ireland is my Holy Grail.  It’s the one place on this earth that I want to visit more than any other… including Bora Bora, if you can believe that.  I don’t know why – sometimes I think I was Irish in another life.  Who knows? Maybe I was.  But to have this little piece of it… from a lovely friend… arriving on a hectic day… as a complete and utter surprise…  well, it made my week.

Thanks, Joy.  You rock.

I know those of you who come here are thinking, what the heck??? We never post more than once a day!! But I saw this from Laura and HAD to put it up right away. It made me laugh and I love that my writing reminds her of a college girl……thankyouverymuch.

I knew you liked them and I wanted you to have them and hopefully brighten your mood on the day they arrived. I’m glad it worked.

    You’re welcome.

    Awe how nice was that?!

I knew that was her writing as soon as I saw it! Isn’t it nice getting snail mail, and seeing a persons writing. Makes me feel a little closer to that person.

Thanks for sharing!!! Enjoy your little goodies! 🙂

I knew what it was by the 4th sentence. How fun!

I must admit to being confused by the last 2 lines of your 2nd sentence. Am I missing something, or is one of us off our medication??

    • Laura says:

      heh… “not unmanageable”???

Loosely translated: “I’ve decided to “manage things” by allowing anything I don’t want to do fall through the cracks.”

Alternate translation: “my kitchen is a ghastly mess and we’re having takeout because I can’t find the stove.”
