I don’t really have a favorite artist or painting. I tend to like Monet simply because I like landscapes and flowers and outdoor scenes. I also like “cabin” paintings with dogs and or birds, pheasants and such. I like Terry Redlin. I don’t care at all for abstract art. I just don’t see the beauty in scribbles unless they were made my my grandchildren.

  2. Jenny says:

My son! So far he has been doing some wonderful scribbles of color crayon artwork! lol
Otherwise I don’t really have a fav. artist.

  3. Sue says:

    I don’t have a favorite either.

  4. Jason says:

I like the paintings from my Grandma. I love to paint as well, but I can rarely find the time or motivation.

I like the impressionists and lots of others, too. I like the cherubs that were painted by Michelangelo. I like Mary Cassat’s take on babies. But, I’m not sure if I have a single favorite.

I vote for my kids’ artwork, too. One kid is pretty good at drawing recognizable pictures. But the other one seems to have a more pleasing way with shapes and colors, when she’s into it. Obviously they are both going to be world-famous artists when they grow up. I know it will be a challenge for the two of them to share the top spot . . . .

I’ve got two (not counting Josh, of course. I should have worded the question as, “aside from your own offspring….”)

First, my uncle, who is THE most incredible wildlife artist. Dang. I should do a post on his work. Seriously, you guys would love his stuff.

The second is Edmund Blair Leighton. He’s one of those artists where people go, “who??” until they see his work, and then they go… “oh, yeah. Never heard of him. But I’ve seen that picture.” Here’s my favorite of his works, it’s called The Accolade.

When I was much younger and more imature it was Hugh Hefner.

Now, eh, it’s the kids of course. Our 21 year old daughter is quite good and actually had one of her water colors voted ^#1 at the Picolo Spoleto Festival a number of years ago.

  8. Karen Joy says:

    Dont have one.

  9. Just a Mom says:

I love Thomas Kincade’s sculptures as well as Jim Shore.

Navar, he has two that it would be hard to choose from one is with bright Yellow flowers and another one is a still life an old trunk with a coat.

  11. Nikki says:

I have to say Thomas Kincade b/c I am not familiar with painters/artists. He is the only one I know of off hand but I do really like his stuff!

  12. Ellen says:

Impressionists Claude Monet and Paul Gauguin. And of course Vincent van Gogh, Johan Vermeer and Rembrandt 🙂

  13. Ellen says:

Oh, and I love the series with the painter Bob Ross. Not sure it was on TV here as well.
