I just loved seeing this. Thanks Karen Joy for putting it on Facebook where I found it. This song has always given me the chills and the way they did this was neat.

When you watch this notice the look of amazement on the children’s faces and just how absolutely happy everyone looks!
That was fantastic! I saw a few of the ladies wiping their eyes, too. That piece always brings chills for me. I’m sorry I wasn’t there… how cool would it be to see that happen?
That was very moving!! It would be awesome to actually be there and see it happen.
It’s funny I saw something like this on the show Modern Family on Wed. night where they had a flash dance. It took place in a mall and about 100 people danced to Janet Jackson. Quite funny!!
I just loved this.I went to youtube just now to watch the Flash Mob video in a Belgium train station doing Sound of music.Ive seen it before but theyre fun to watch.I would SOOO love to partake in this type of thing!!!
I was really surprised also to see how many just sitting there in the beginning were a part of it. I just loved this so much. I’d love to see something like this.
This was really cool! It looked like the food court at the Mall of America, but does anyone know for sure where it was?
Never mind, I found where it was. My comment was in the spam folder 😦 Wonder why!
I also love at the end when they all sit down like it wasn’t anything special.
W O W . left me almost speachless. I want to be @ one of these :-)!!!!! I saw another version of this last week as well on facebook…one of those random acts of culture @ a mall in Philidelphia.
almost feels like an act of cultural disobedience…ie… the mainstream media culture wants to take us down the tubes morally and grass roots america comes back with something like this. leaves me encouraged. Thanks for posting this Joy. DM
Thank you DM. It’s really good to see you here. I’ve watched this a lot of times and still get chills in the middle of it. I guess it helps since this is one of my favorite chorus’s of all time. I love Handel’s version of the hallelujah chorus in the Messiah
Did you find my comment stuck in the spam filter or was it just my computer on this end not showing the latest view of your blog? sometimes when I think that happened, it’s really just my computer needing to refresh it’s view.
Have you guys ever had the Kiev Symphony tour your area? The reason I ask, is every couple of years they come to America for a couple of months..they’ve been in our town at least 4 times…they sing this type of music..normally, I’m a U2- Alison Kraus sort of music lover, but when I hear Handel’s Messiah, it chokes me up too…guess there is a little hope for me that I still appreciate a little culture 🙂
I love flash mobs. I think they are awesome. There’s an improv group called “improv everywhere” that have organized some interesting flash mob type things throughout NYC. This is one of my favorite ones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVuVhcdQs0k
Lucy- I just watched that clip…thank you for posting it!
I did too Lucy. That was awesome. I’d just love to be a part of something like this.
You’re welcome. Joy, I would love to be part of something like this too!! I think it would be amazing. It’s just fascinating to see so many strangers getting together to create something like this!
I wonder how it all works. If they announce it in the paper or a site or something online. That would be a blast.
Very nice idea – too bad I haven’t migrated to my “with sound” computer yet, but I did watch to get the gist.
I love to see whole communities doing stuff together. I remember the first time I went to a football game (ours used to sell out weekly in those days). Awesome to be among 80,000 people all cheering for the same thing in the same place (peacefully, at that).
I just love Christmas caroling, too. I wanted to find a place to take my kids caroling last year, but I wasn’t successful. This year, at least I know of one place we can go to sing carols. So nice to be in something together. Reminds us that we aren’t all so different after all.
Oh, I forgot you don’t have sound on your computer… you should keep a list of websites to go back and visit when you finally get sound. Like this one… and the “printer trouble cat” from last week… It could take up an entire day! You could call in sick with a case of the giggles…
