I got this in an email from Michael (mssc) and really want to share it. If you want to participate, fine and if not, that’s fine too. I plan to and just wanted to share it.
I have a friend who was going to have her group send some “stocking stuffers” to the troops on the ground in Afghanistan. I contacted Buddy’s former General for information and received the information in the thread below. I have cut and pasted it to my email but feel free to scroll down through the thread.
Apparently there has been some sort of miscommunication and her group will not be able to participate at the level initially thought.
I figured I would forward the information to each of you just in case you would like to participate. If the Spirit moves you please feel free to participate, however, do DO NOT feel obligated
Blessings to each of you!
Michael

Joy, I had no idea you would use this on US GIRLS. Awesome!
I traded a couple of more emails with Jill. There are 64 soldiers in this unit. I’ll copy their tasks from my email and paste it here so your readers can see exactly what these soldiersare doing.
I think the most difficult things will be the coffee mugs and especially the plastic mugs with lids. They will use thuse for the instant food. I figure there has got to be a company who has some of these with messed up logos/misprints that I could get cheep or reduced cost. If anyone knows a company let me know.
Thanks for “Supporting the Troops!”
I was just thinking that it would be neat if people would send mugs with photos of their kids saying “thanks” to the troops. Too bad I can’t think of a way to do that without spending an arm and a leg. Wonder if some company would be willing to do this type of mug at a reduced price (in light of the likely volume). I know some people might be scared to put their kids’ photos out there, but there need be no identifying information, so I’d think it would be safe.
Here’s what her reply was when I asked her what they were doing.
Sir,
The ADT is responsible for assisting the local Afghans in the Paktya & Paktika Provinces of Afghanistan in agricultural endeavors and also something new is to assist the female Afghans in learning a trade, i.e. growing their own food and raising chickens. Some of the agricultural endeavors are wheat growing, refrigeration units if needed, the raising of chickens and larger animals such as goats and sheep. They are also teaching them to how to preserve the meat once slaughtered. Please let me know if you need additional details. This is just the highlights.

I posted this on my FB, too… hopefully we can fill a few stockings!
So did I. I just think this is a really good idea and we should all do what we can for the solders over there. Thanks Michael for sending this to me.
Hey Joy, I’ll get together with you and perhaps we could send something together???
If its ok with you???
That would be great. I’m going to Buffalo tomorrow and was going to start picking some stuff up.
I will pick up some things from Sam’s( too bad i didnt know prior i was up there last night), such as hot choc/instant cereal/soups/coffee filters and we’ll see what else, I think they have those Purex 3/1 things, everything comes in bulk there so it will be more. they have the paper towels too but that is huge, would be really big to ship.
I love this idea…I sent the email that Michael sent to me, to Baileys teacher. Hopefully he will pass it on. I also asked if he’d be willing to make up some kind of poster from the kids to send with the package I plan on sending. All of this stuff is so cheap and and they deserve it, and so much more!
