Hmm, I don’t know . . . every friend who sent me an e-card also sent me a paper card. (There were only a few.) I do think that businesses are doing fewer cards to their customers / vendors. But I don’t think that’s any great loss. I mean, those cards are always so generic for fear of offending anyone, they are not so fun to get.
I feel like I got fewer cards than usual this year. Or maybe the mail is just slower.
Nope! As a matter of fact wesent out cards this year for the first time in… well a very long time. When I finally found my Mrs. Address book most of our friends’ addresses were bad.
We had our recent family pictures made into a Christmas card. And I can not remember hearing my mom so excited about it!
I don’t think it’s the internet as much as it is the economy. I think those that didn’t buy them like they normally would didn’t want to spend the extra money on buying them and putting stamps on them. It’s not cheap to mail the darn things!
I prefer to send cards as well to receive them by mail. And it is indeed a pretty expensive thing to do, especially if your whole family lives in Europe!
Guess I’m old-school. I like the paper Christmas Cards. I don’t send as many as I used to – my family is enormous, so I have to weed out some people, since we’re starting to get into the once- and twice-removed levels. But I do like writing and sending them.
As for the e-cards? I get so much crap sent to me via e-mail through the year, and that includes e-cards that people forward that THEY received because it’s “cute”, that I just kind of ignore the electronic ones. Like I said, call me Old-school, but I think the e-cards area cop-out.
I really don’t think so. I still get the same amount of Christmas cards as I used to. Like Laura mentioned though people do get weeded out after a time. I’m not sure why. People grow apart and things change. Do you think it’s a tradition that you either do or don’t because of what your family did or everyone around you? I just always have and am sure always will. I did stop sending to most of my Canadian friends and only do a very small amount now but that’s only because of the time it takes for the mail to get there and most times I’m not early enough to ensure it will get there in time. It takes a good week or week and a half for a letter to get to my cousins 6 hours away by car. I’m NOT kidding. If they’re going to be that late I just don’t want to bother. Then it will be a quick glance and a toss in the garbage.
Yes, I think this is something you’re taught to do. You either do or you don’t.
