How many Christmas gatherings and or parties did you have to attend this year? Do you enjoy them or feel you have to attend?

    Well… Not many.

But me, the Mrs. and our two youngest were invited to a formal (sit down) dinner at the millionair birth family’s millionair (paid off) home. I told the Mrs. that I have just grown weary of participating in things with them based solely on what makes them feel good and their conveniance. I did not go but she took the kids.

Our six year old son behaved like a brat! On the one hand as a parent I had to handle it and I hate that for my Mrs. However, on the other hand I am secretely grinning REALLY BIG on the inside that he sorta made things miserable for them for a change! HA!

But I really hated having to deal with his bad behavior and it’s “bad consequences.”

PS: I went to see TRUE GRIT while they were on the Island at the millionair birth family.

My Mrs. van had battery problems earlier in the day so she was “less than accurate with the information” (aka she lied) and told them that I was making sure that she had a van to drive tomorrow.

PPS: But on the bright side the millionair birth grandparents want to take the kids to the local county park to look at the huge Christmas lights display, so now I can say that due our son’s behavior tonight neither of them will be able to go. YAY!!

We had 3. One during Thanksgiving when the in-laws were here. Christmas Eve at mom’s house & Christmas day at Grandmas

  4. Nikki says:

As for Christmas, just the 2 at your house, and I wanted to come to both. I enjoy family time!

  5. Being Jewish, none… Although you’d be surprised at how many people here love the idea of Christmas and want to celebrate it in silly, fun ways!

Let’s see . . . adoption-related Christmas party, school Christmas program, church Christmas program, professional (international business) Christmas party, Christmas Eve church service, Christmas at my house Xmas morning, Christmas at my parents’ house later that same day. (Am I forgetting any?) That would be 7, I guess. It may sound like a lot, but at least I have only one place to go for extended family.

    • SKL says:

I didn’t answer the second part of the question. Did I want to go or was I obligated? Really, both, for most of them. With the exception of the adoption-related party & Christmas Eve church (didn’t “have to” to go, but wanted to), and the business party (other way around).

By the way, my kids misbehaved too – at church – during the prayer. Very unusual, but in hindsight, I probably could have prevented it. Ugh. Live and learn.
