I’m so thankful it’s Friday. Why? Because that means we don’t have to go anywhere! Monday through Thursday we are out the door by 5:15 for batting and pitching practice for Bailey. Friday, is the evening we stay in. And that is exactly what we plan to do.
My moms birthday was Wednesday, but she had to work. She’s coming over this evening for supper and dessert. She wanted tacos, which we all love. I am surprising her with a dessert, Strawberry Gooey Cake. I don’t know what is about the word gooey in a dessert but, I’m all for that! She is taking both the kids, Bailey and my niece to her house for a sleepover.
Saturday, Jason and I have to be at the high school at 8:30am until noon at least, to help out with baseball tryout registrations. Just one more little hint that summer has to come, right??? Because right now, I am so over this cold and snow.
That’s really it for us for the weekend. How was your week? Any plans for the weekend?
Good heaven’s, it’s already -13 here and it’s just beginning to drop.
I had -18 on my way home from the basketball game at 9:15pm.
I like that picture!! The kittens are so cute 🙂 That’s how we felt today and tomorrow is gonna be worse.
My cats do what these cats are. They run to the door and then put up their noses when the below zero temps hit them.
I’m a winter girl, and I’m kinda over this screaming cold. It’s already blasted past -5, heading for a low of -10. I suspect it might get even lower than that. We’ve also got a pretty strong wind going, so the chill has to be around -20 at least. School has already called a late start – which I’m fine with. That means I get an extra day to sleep in! And there’s nothing better when it’s arctic cold and you HAVE a cold, than sleeping in. I told Josh not to bother me until 7:30. bliss.
Tomorrow night, if the weather isn’t too awful (they’re calling for snow), we’re taking Steve to Red Lobster for his birthday dinner. (no, I did NOT sneeze on his pork chop tonight!) And then this weekend, we’re talking about taking Josh and his friend either bowling or ice skating. MY vote is skating, because I haven’t done it in years and I miss it soooo much. But we’ll just have to see which is easier to do. Bowling means Bowling Alley Fries, so I’m good with that, too…
LOL about the pork chop!
Hmm, I hope we get all this global warming under control soon . . . did you all switch out your lightbulbs yet?
Personally, I am kinda disoriented and I don’t really get that it’s almost Friday. This has been such a strange week, what with my kids and me being so sick. We never miss that much work/school. It’s been yucky in most ways – I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in almost a week – but it’s been cozy in some ways, just hanging out with my girls watching movies in our jammies. Of course I still had to work and do the important time-sensitive stuff, but it still feels very different.
The girls finally went back to school Thursday, and they also had their semi-annual gymnastics demo. Because both the coach and I got there a half hour early, she let my kids go separately, which was good, because that way I actually got to see each one. Usually Miss E is hogging all the attention with her nervous antics while Miss A is performing her feats. So anyhoo, the girls both did well and it’s nice to see how much they are learning. Of course I forgot my camera.
As for this weekend, I really don’t know how it will go. I am not in the mood for our usual Friday night dinner, but I might force myself if everyone else wants to go. On Saturday, Nanny is scheduled to come in the a.m. and take the girls to swimming lessons, and in the evening, we have an Indian Republic Day event to attend, which will probably involve music and dancing. So we will probably all dress up in Indian clothes for that. On Sunday, I don’t know if my sister will come or not. It may not be a good idea if there are still germs in the house. She doesn’t have health insurance and she is very susceptible to strep. So I’m not sure how our Sunday will go. I should plan on getting ahead on my work so I can chill a little on Sunday if need be.
I HATE those light bulbs!!! We have one in our front door light right now and when it gets to about 10 degrees and below, the stupid thing doesn’t work!
Ha ha, I guess the designers were planning ahead and figured it would never get that cold any more.
They were counting on Global Warming… oops.
Well, I had a pretty good Thursday and it finished with our varsity girls bball game against the conference leaders and guess what?! Our girls pulled out the win!!!!! It was awesome! They played their hearts out and I’m so glad we were there to see it. Friday I have to try and leave work early to be to school for Share the Fun practice for our 4-H club, then one of the doc’s is having a party, but I’m not sure if we’re going yet. Saturday is more basketball for Trinity and it is going to be ALL DAY. First game at 9am, 2nd not til 1pm and then the championship is at 5pm with consolation at 6pm! We will probably not be bowling Saturday night! Sunday Trin is going to a classmates house to work on their science project which means it will be peaceful at home 😉 My kids fight like cats and dogs on the weekends! Other than all that, we don’t have much planned!
Isn’t Christopher wrestling on Sunday?
Well my no plans, went to sh*t! That’s okay though, really. Tonight, we were invited over to some friends house for some cards, and probably a couple of drinks. No more than a couple though! She knows how much I love sweet tea, so she always makes me this one drink. It called Jeremiah Weed~Sweet Tea, it’s Vodka flavored tea, and you mix it with Lemonade. Mmmm so good!
I’m still thawing out, so I’m gonna get my heat bags warmed up for my bed and hit the sack! Talk to ya’ll in the morning!
Ahhh…back to no plans, no kids tonight. 🙂 Bailey wasn’t exactly thrilled we were going with out him. (he is friends with their son) So, we’re going tomorrow night. I’m back to a very happy camper.
Instead of that strawberry cake, I made peanut butter marshmallow squares, and covered them in chocolate. 🙂 Can we just skip supper, and go straight to dessert?!
Saturday it will be the usual thing, cleaning, groceries and working at the hospital in the evening. Sunday we/ll go driving up the mountain to see some snow, yeah, silly, I know 🙂 We’ll make some pix and I will post them at the site. Have you all a wonderful weekend. I am sorry it is such bad weather where you all live.
WOWZER MINUS 27!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How in the world do you keep your vehicles from going on strike?
I almost feel bad that it’s forcast to be 55 here today. Yesterday’s 63 was real nice too. 🙂
I keep mine in the garage and then talk real nice to her before I stick the key in.
My friend in AK has a block-warmer, and some of the places in town have plugs-on-poles in the parking lots.
I only have a one car garage and Jason’s car goes in there because it doesn’t have a plug. My truck is always plugged in, in the drive way!
We don’t have garages and we just pray that they start!! I just started mine this morning, it started. But it was really slow and didn’t really want to start!! Hey atleast there’s no wind today. and the sun was out….
My brother had to get my mom this morning and take her to work. Her car was frozen, wouldn’t start.
When we had cars that were not reliable in cold weather, we’d go out and start them and run them for a while periodically, even if we didn’t have anyplace to go.
I still do that SKL. Mine’s running now. I’m so lucky and have automatic start so I don’t even have to go outside. It’ll run for 15 minutes and turn off. It’s really handy and my most favorite thing about my vehicle.
Those remote starts are AWESOME! Especially on bitterly cold days and hot days!
I know Michael. If my next vehicle doesn’t have it, I’d put it on. I LOVE IT.
Just got back from taking Hunter to the eye dr. We noticed he had a little spot on his right eye, just on the inside on the white part of his eye. So we decided to have it checked out just to be on the safe side. Well, turns out its nothing. Thank god!! He said everything looks normal and its probably just a blood vessel showing through the white part. He said it will either stay there or go away as he gets bigger. Hunter did AWESOME! He thought he was playing a game where he had to put on glasses and say what he sees on the mirror. Even got his eyes dilated. Which he just laughed when that happened. But then afterwards it was “I can’t see, don’t like those eye drops!” He did so good that we took him to McDonalds after 🙂 Now my stress is gone!!! Have a good weekend everyone
My week went by fine. Saturday is my birthday so I know I will at least go out to eat (even though it will be one degree!), probably to Eddie Merlot’s or Fogo de Chao.
I hope to get some rest as well!
I hope you have a wonderful birthday Morocco. I’ll look forward to seeing a pic of your dessert on your blog.
Happy, happy birthday to you! May this coming year be one of great blessings for you and yours!
