I do consider myself spiritual. Not religious but spiritual.

  2. mssc54 says:

Yes! But please don’t confuse spiritual with perfection. 😉

  3. Laura says:

I do consider myself spiritual. I think I’m far to much of a skeptic to be religious. I ask too many questions.

  4. Sue says:

    Yes, I do.

  5. Ellen says:

    Yes, very spiritual.

  6. Phyllis says:

Yes, I’m spiritual. I figure we’re all “Masterpieces” in progress. Laura, questions are fine, it’s the strictly religious people that have a problem wtih them. I am Christian, and we believe that rather than it be religion, it’s actually enjoying a special relationship with God. People can’t learn things without asking questions! So never stop asking them!! : )

I was encouraged to ask questions in Lutheran school when I was young. It was not really appreciated when I moved and attended Baptist youth stuff. In fact, I had a sort of crisis after I walked out of an “overnight” youth event after everyone, included the pastor, made it clear that inquisitiveness was not welcome at that event. I had always felt like I had an open line to God before; I’d chat with him while riding my bike around and trying to work out a problem. But after that walkout, I felt like nobody was there on the other end any more. So over the next several years, I figured out my own spirituality outside of religion. Eventually I figured out how that could be the common base for all the major religions. So I am certainly not anti-religion, but I’m spiritual first.

SKL, you had it right when you were little and riding your bike talking to God about whatever was on your mind! That’s the type of relationship He desires with each of us. Chatting with Him like we do our best friends. He’s still there, and He’s still listening. : )

I was so upset when I felt that door close. I even went and did the “open the Bible to a random place” thing and each time the verse I found was discouraging. I have never gotten back to that relationship I had with God when I was 15. Maybe someday.
