Pull Up a Commercial

In honor of SuperBowl Sunday, we’re pulling up my favorite part…  The Budweiser Clydesdale Commercials!!  I could post a whole bunch, and you could sit here with me for a relaxing hour or more, reliving the entertainment, but I’m restraining myself, and I’m posting just this one:

So… what’s your favorite Super Bowl Commercial?  Doesn’t have to be a Clydesdale one, although I think they’re hard to beat.

And if you don’t have one, just kick back and enjoy the entertainment provided by the rest of the crowd.  Or put something else up.

Remember the rules, though.  Be nice, or we stand YOU under the snow-filled tree that ol’ Hank is so fond of hip-checking! (and if you don’t remember that one, tell me and I’ll post it in the comments)

I liked the Chevy one right at the beginning of the game where they had to drive in “horrific” conditions to rescue someone. I also liked the Dorito’s one where the fish and grandpa come back to life. But the games not over so there may be more. I’m just not loving them like I used to.

Oh, I liked the Hyundai one with the “it’s a good thing we don’t settle for the first one” with the huge cell phones and record players and such.

I love all the E-trade ones with the babys. Those are always funny. Also with Roseanne getting smashed by that log…LOL I don’t remember what that one was for though.
I’m kinda tired of seeing all the car commercials.

    • Joy says:

That was for Snickers Jenny and I thought that was funny too. We went round and round on Facebook with that. Some people were talking about Christina singing the wrong words to the Star Spangled Banner and some were talking about Roseanne and we all got confused.

      • Jenny says:

Yea I thought I caught that when she sang the wrong word…she really does have a great voice, but she did not sing that very well. Also I thought the half time show was pretty good. All except for Fergie…. Horrible singer!! Thats the problem these days with all these singers. They sound awesome on the radio, but horrible live.

        • Laura says:

Ahhh, Jenny, such a Wise Woman!! You are SO right about today’s singers. They have no idea how to be out of the studio with all the crutches and dials to prop them up.

I miss the days when bands were musicians first and celebrities second. It didn’t matter what they looked like because they could play! I think it’s why I like country music so much … they actually know one end of a guitar from the other, and they’re not up there just to prance around.

I didn’t watch the Super Bowl and can’t watch the video here. And I don’t watch TV generally. So I am not sure if I can “pull up a commercial.” At least, not a recent one.

This weekend was reasonably good. No big new stressors, not much rushing around. Got some work done, still need to do more. Played in the snow a bit yesterday, went to church today.

This coming week I don’t have much planned. I hope I can get back into our “routine.” Last week I just didn’t have the stamina for it, with all the crappy weather. This week I want to get back into doing vision therapy before school every morning, and taking the girls somewhere most evenings. We need to buy valentines, and I’d like to do a craft like we did last year, so I’ll buy the stuff on a weekday and maybe Nanny will help the kids put it together on Saturday. On Friday evening, I plan to take the girls to a live production of The Sound of Music.

Well, that’s about it for now. I hope you all have more interesting plans than I do!

Ok, I agree with the Chevy “Lassie” one (where the truck had to keep calling Dad in to rescue Timmy… “where’d he get a balloon???”), and the one where Roseanne Barr got wolloped with the log.

The baby ones creep me out.

And I really liked the Bridgestone Tire one where the guy stopped just short of nailing that beaver, so the beaver turned around and downed a tree in front of the guy to keep him from getting swept away.

I missed my Clydesdales, though. It’s just not the Superbowl without the Clydesdales.

Ok, there was one commercial that bugged me, aside from some that just didn’t make any sense (the Coke Dragon. What the heck?), and that was the “Groupon” one. It started out talking about Tibet, how it’s rapidly losing it’s culture, it’s people, and suddenly this guy (some actor) says, “oh, but it’s all ok, because I just got a Groupon for Thai food!” WHAT???

  6. SKL says:

I heard they passed on a commercial that had a football player with John 3:16 painted under his eyes, and then people wondering what’s that and the words “look it up” on the screen. Apparently knowing that athletes might be Christian is too offensive for the Superbowl audience.

    • Joy says:

I’m not sure about that one. A huge amount of football players pray and are openly Christians so I’m not sure.

    • Laura says:

I hadn’t heard that for this year, but the QB you’re thinking of, I’ll bet, is Tim Tebow. He caused a stir last year, maybe, because he was in that pro-life ad that aired during the SB. I don’t remember the whole mess, but there was a massive hue and cry that he shouldn’t be doing that, for whatever reason. I could probably find it, if you wanted me to.

    • Phyllis says:

I didn’t watch the game, but I heard on WMBI that the John 3:16 did air! Was that info wrong?

    • Joy says:

I’m not sure Phyllis. I didn’t see it but I missed a lot of them it would appear!

  7. Sue says:

I liked the Clydesdale one too. I also liked the Chevy truck one, but my fav was probably the Snickers one with Roseann! It still makes me laugh thinking about her laying in the mud b/c when you’re hungry you just don’t feel like yourself!!!

  8. mssc54 says:

I love that one too but I think my favorite is the “streaking sheep!”

  9. Joy says:

They didn’t have a “honest to goodness” clydsdale one this year though did they? Wasn’t the only “BUD” one the one where the guy sings in the bar? They were only really sitting outside the bar in that one. If there was another one I missed it.

    • Sue says:

They had one with Clydesdales in it, but they weren’t the center of the commercial. It was the one where they brought the beer into that old western town whose tavern was out of Bud and then the tough guy busts out into song.

    • Joy says:

That’s what I thought. I like the ones where the horses are the main stars.

    • Jenny says:

yea usually Budweiser has more than just one. Not this year though and it wasn’t focused on the clydsdales…thats too bad! I really look forward to seeing those ones.

  10. Nikki says:

The 1st one I saw was funny. The same one Joy is talking about, driving in “horrific” conditions. That made us laugh! The one where Roseann got hit was great, I wasn’t expecting that!

I’m a huge fan of Eminem but I got tired of the car commercials. His Brisk Tea one was good I thought though.

  11. Laura says:

Dang, I’m gonna have to go find the list of commercials. I missed some of them because I kept running down to the kitchen to make dinner.
