Vanilla Soaked French Toast

Vanilla Soaked French Toast

  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup half & half
  • 3 large eggs
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 6-8 thick slices of french bread (slightly stale is best to sop up the egg mixture)

Whisk together the half & half, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

Soak bread slices in egg mixture for at least 4 to 5 minutes.

Lightly oil or butter and heat a griddle or skillet on medium-high. Place the soaked bread on the griddle and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until French toast is a lightly scorched.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar and/or serve with warm maple syrup.
