I always let Josh choose one day per week to buy his lunch. At the beginning of each month, when the lunch menu comes home, we sit down with a highlighter, and he picks for the month. He loves school lunch, but it’s not the healthiest thing going… lots of chicken nuggets, pizza and mac n’ cheese.
it also gives me a once-a-week break from lunchmaking duties!
Bailey hasn’t taken his lunch to school for 2-3 years now. Maybe more. I do like these ideas though, and will keep them in mind for field trips, however those have really came to a halt now that he’s older.
The one tip I use every day is the note. I sign his daily planner for the previous day, every morning. I always put a smiley face and ILY on there, for todays plan. It’s small, I don’t want to embarrass him, but he knows it’s there.
