I had to share this with you guys… during the minutes that I’ve had these past few weeks, I keep checking in. This is an “EagleCam” – a camera mounted over an active Eagle’s Nest in Decorah, Iowa. Three eggs were laid in late February. Today, April 1, is the projected hatch date. So far this morning, both parents have been hanging pretty close to the nest.
It’s fascinating. Occasionally, someone will pan the camera around so you can see the terrain (and farm) around the nest site, or they’ll focus in really closely on the feathers. Finally… if you look in the lower left-hand corner of the nest, you’ll see a dead rabbit. I’m wondering if it’s there as food for the babies?

Enjoy.
Love it! Thanks!
Holy cats!! That is so cool. I can’t wait till I get home and can watch longer.
I got a post on my FB about an hour ago that said that the eggs have started hatching.
(On the other side of it… I find it absolutely hilarious that, as of right now, there are over 95,000 people, staring at their computer screen, at an eagle’s butt…. ON APRIL FOOL’S DAY!!!)
I totally thought this was gonna be an April Fools joke.
And when I checked earlier, all I saw was the male eagle sitting on the eggs. “O…K…”
Nope, not a joke. The viewership skyrocketed today. Yesterday, we were hovering around 40K, I just checked, and we’re at 122K and climbing!
also… last I saw, one of the eggs had a “pip”, which means that a baby beak poked through.
And the nice thing, SKL – unless the eagles call to one another (which they do, but rarely)… YOU DON’T NEED SOUND!!! It’s mostly wind noise.
10:03 AM…. the nesting Eagle just changed positions, and there is definitely a hole in one of the eggs, possibly in two of them!
Thats pretty cool!!
I just picked the kids up from school and guess what Christopher says?! “Mom, guess what we did at school today? We watched eagles on the computer! And they’re from Iowa!” I said, “Really? Our friend Laura posted it on the blog so we can watch it at home!”
yea Hunter was getting mad at me when I kept going to a different page. He said No mom, I want to watch the Eagle!
This is the coolest thing!!!!
How amazing! 🙂
